    Qotom J1900 pfSense - performance ?

Just thought I'd post back. I've been using the Qotom/pfSense setup since Christmas and it works really well. Due to its location my Qotom J1900 runs around 45-50c most of the time. I decided to add an external fan and now the temp is at 32c. I decided to buy this ...

    RT-AC68U iptables query.

Thanks for the reply. I have debated using a vlan for it, but it may not work for me as it will cause issues with dnla and multicast between the LAN and vlan. I had hoped to keep it all on one LAN and restrict what devices can access each other. When you set the router to AP mode it states "In...

    RT-AC68U iptables query.

Thanks for the reply. If I change the router back to its normal 'router' mode, I will have access to iptables. Any issue running it like that but using it as an AP only ?

    RT-AC68U iptables query.

Hi If I run my RT-AC68U as a wireless access point can I still use iptable rules? Can they be loaded from a script on startup ? The AP, router, LAN devices and wireless clients are all in the same IP range. Is it possible on the AP to block access for the wireless clients to all LAN devices...

AC68 vs BT HomeHub 5 Wireless. HH5 is better !

Thanks for the replies. I'm not trying to replace the AC68U with the HH5, I was running a comparison of wireless coverage and speed to see which would be better if I was to use either just as a access point. I'm currently running Merlin Firmware:378.54_2 with the tx power adjustment at 100%...

AC68 vs BT HomeHub 5 Wireless. HH5 is better !

Hi I've been doing some testing using my AC68U and a BT HomeHub 5 With the Asus running Merlin firmware I get good coverage and speed in most locations, but if I swap to the HH5 then it's much better speed and coverage. I've located them both in the same place, so I'm wondering why the HH5 is...

    Qotom J1900 pfSense - performance ?

Thanks sfx2000. I'm ordering today and will post how I get on. The plan is start with the basics and them move forward from there. One thing I need to find is how to backup or snapshot the box, so if something goes wrong I can roll it back, OS and pfsense. (I spend a lot of time using virtual...

    Qotom J1900 pfSense - performance ?

The aim of the HH5 is purely as a wireless access point. I plan to leave the openreach modem connected and use the pfsense box as the router/firewall. As far as I can tell that should work.

    Qotom J1900 pfSense - performance ?

I've got a AC68U running merlins firmware and it works very well. I did a test and walked around the house monitoring the wireless signal on 2.4 & 5. I then did the same using the HH5, which gave a much better range. I plan to use Qotom/pfSense and the HH5 here and send the 68U to another site.
