    ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.81039

I know this is a bit off-topic but since it was mentioned in this thread... Decided to switch to Merlin FW from official Asus FW (had just downgraded from this fiasco of a FW Asus had released) as many seem to recommend that... I like that it's snappier and has more options but I did notice that...

    ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.81039

Agreed. In the past I've always used Asus FW as long as they keep updating it. When the updates stop, I then turn to custom FWs.

    ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.81039

I played it safe and did a factory reset via the GUI. Luckily everything went smoothly and even my wireless Samsung MFP printer connected without having to sacrifice another few hours of my life figuring out why even with a static IP the printer sometimes have issues with connection. Would...

    ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.81039

Had the issue with the lost 5GHz as well with my AC66U B1 when updating to this FW. Was going to leave it alone but noticed that Asus had deleted the FW and is now showing the previous FW as the newest. So I went ahead and downgraded. I can now see the 5GHz again. By the way, did those of you...

N56U - Padavan Firmware - PIA - VPN Client Setup Help please

I tried switching Blowfish to AES-128 but lost Internet connection. I'd previously read that this had happened to someone else as well so I guess it won't work. Someone at PIA-forums suggested this a while back: "Add the following lines to your OpenVPN config; Increasing the buffers improved...

N56U - Padavan Firmware - PIA - VPN Client Setup Help please

I'm running the latest Padavan FW on my Asus N56U and just subscribed to PIA VPN. I followed this guide using the user name and password I received via e-mail (did not generate a PPTP/L2TP/SOCKS password). Everything works (checked IP and DNS via various sites) but the speeds are slowish (on a...

Unable to write (FTP Sharing) - N56U with Padava FW

I have Asus RT-N56U router with the current Padavan firmware installed. I was looking for a NAS storage solution and thought about using the USB ports of the router to connect a portable HDD as wireless backup/external storage solution. I tested this with a USB flash drive. However, through FTP...

Benefits of Padavan FW over Asus FW?

I recently bought Asus N56U to replace a broken Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 I couldn't revive. I almost bought N66U but decided it was an overkill inside a studio apartment. One thing that drew me towards the N66U was the possibility of using custom firmware. Most of my computers are Apple and I've read...
