    I give up I tried Merlin's 270.26b with the same results. 5 GHz band is great, 2.4 GHz essentially is unusable. I'm on channel 1 since that channel has no overlapping channels or networks, great signal strength reported (inSSIDer, INTEL PROset etc) but connection speeds are not great at all...
