48 hours in and no slowdown. The laptop was off today, so no wireless clients for about 12 hours but my desktop remained on. So, the difference this time around is that firmware 35_4 along with something always connected to the network seems to be working!

This issue is not related to Merlin's firmwares. I had this problem even before switching. I switched to Merlin with the hopes that it had been resolved in his versions somehow but nothing works, not even the old 270_26b that everyone likes so much.
