    ASUS RT-BE92U

Anyone else in the thread having WiFi bands dropping, lockups in the gui while changing settings or VPN IPsec problems? Would be interesting to know for sure and what version of the firmware they are on. Usually those things get reported on threads like these. Any other operational issues...

    Guest and IoT Network Configuration

For Asus routers, what is the strategy for fancing off Guest and IoT devices? Does we throw both of those types of devices onto the same Guest network? When you create a guest network, do you have to assign it a specific band in 2, 5 or 6 GHz and then those devices can only use that band...

    Asus Router Security Discussion

When setting up Asus routers, if you use the app like they say to do, can you do that without creating any Asus online accounts? Or do you need to do it the old fashioned way of plugging in a wired NIC on the same subnet and logging into the router in order to forgo the online Asus account?

    Asus Router Security Discussion

On this latest round of Asus malware, how did the code get into the router? Was it through something launched in clients internally or did it come through for only people who had certain services open external? Are there online security sites that can scan against your router from the outside...

    Asus Router Security Discussion

Folks, let me start out by saying that I do not own an Asus router, but have wanted one for my next upgrade. The purpose of this is not to flame anything about Asus products, it's just to serve as a discussion and info page for security issues, and maybe some people will benefit from reading...

WiFi 5 to 7 Router Upgrade Questions

Thanks for the recommendations. There are some folks who have gotten the newest Asus WiFi 7 routers, the ones that came out at a lower cost range at $200-300, and they report good MLO use, among other things. Beta is a strong word for WiFi7 at this point and for not much cost difference from...

WiFi 5 to 7 Router Upgrade Questions

Currently have a LinkSys EA8500 WiFi 5 router that I have had for 8 years, which does use downlink MU-MIMO and 4x4. We have it centralized in a 2 story house with basement and coverage is good. We have 4 people that could be on the network at the same time, but its only web browsing...

    ASUS RT-BE92U

For the owners out there, does the initial firmware from Asus seems stable for this router? Any unexpected operation happening with the router?

    MLO performance and Limitations

Yes, that top option of 1x5Ghz and 2x6Ghz bands seems like it leaves out the 2.4Ghz.

    MLO performance and Limitations

Thanks for the info. Let's hope that Asus either moves forward with allowing the band selection on their upcoming routers like the BQ16 and maybe updates older routers that didn't have that option at the start.

    MLO performance and Limitations

If using MLO on new Asus routers to combine bands, can you select only 5 and 6Ghz in an MLO combination and leave 2.4Ghz out? Can you also tell the defined MLO to use NSTR vs STR?

Router Port Specs Needed for Milti-Gig Internet

Yeah, I know things keep changing. But, you never know when hardware might go south and you need to get something fast, I always like to do my research for that stuff. Thanks for the thoughts on some ports being 1 or 10Gbps, but cannot negotiate speeds in the middle and would negotiate down to...

Router Port Specs Needed for Milti-Gig Internet

Just doing to research before the time comes to upgrade my router at some point. The desire is there to plan for the future and multi-gig internet service of 2.5 or 5Gbps. Would I need something with an internet WLAN port of 10Gbps for the internet service and then an additional regular...

Using the Nighthawk M6 Pro to feed internet into router

Found the resolution. I set the gateway on the M6 Pro to 192.168.2.1 which allowed me to keep the gateway on my router as its default 192.168.1.1. This resulted in no conflict have my router automatically changing its gateway and dhcp IP range.

Using the Nighthawk M6 Pro to feed internet into router

Trying to use the M6 Pro to feed internet access into my home router (LinkSys EA8500) as a backup for my cable modem. I can get everything to work fine in this setup, but I notice that as soon as I hook my router ethernet cable into the M6 Pro, that my local IP address scheme gets switched from...

Powerline Accesspoint (really just the AP part)

With any AP, I would have to do some tweaking to get the phones to roam to different points. Most likely would have to enable "Allow WiFi Roaming Scans" in Android developer options to make it work right. I think that effects battery, so I really didn't want to do that. It's funny how all this...

Powerline Accesspoint (really just the AP part)

I've got a Linksys EA8500 that does a great job at floor 1 and 2 of my house. I've got it located on floor 1, but where it sits, it has to go diagonally through several walls and even the AC ducts to my basement couch. I get a 5GHz signal there, but not by much, and occasionally, it drops...

    Channel Selection

Question, if my AP is set to AC only on 5GHz, and the others close to me are set to accept N as well, then will my router still interfere with theirs? The "Link Score" for my channel on InSSIDer was 100 with no overlap. I'm guessing that the other networks are too far, or that the above...

    Channel Selection

I've done a bunch of research on this, and have seen the channel maps like this one: http://www.networkcomputing.com/wireless/channel-bonding-wifi-rules-and-regulations/199326059 Question, if a neighbor is on channel 48 with a 40Mhz, and I am on channel 36, a selection of 80Mhz, would our...

    Sideband Discussion

I have a setting in my advanced settings of the Linksys EA8500. For the 2.4Ghz, it was set to Auto Sideband. For the 5GHz, it was set to Lower Sideband. What is this setting doing? For example, if my auto channel has selected 36 on 5GHz, what would the side band lower be doing and should...
