A little advice appreciated on my upgrade path/choice.

What about something like Powerline and/or MOCA and using that as "ethernet" backhaul between your nodes? Powerline you may be able to get a gig depending on the electrical layout of your home. MOCA I think is up to 2.5 gig now. With MOCA you would obviously need an available RG6 run between...

    Comparison? ASUS RT-BE96U vs. TP-Link BE19000

For Windows 11, you need to upgrade to the Dev build 24H2. 24H2 is not general release yet. Also update the wifi drivers to the latest. This is also assuming you have purchased and installed a wifi adapter (like the Intel BE200) into your laptop/system. Oh and you have WiFi 7 based router/access...

What would be a better solution?

Scooped up a TP-Link Deco BE85 (BE22000) WiFi 7 system during the Amazon Prime Day sales (3-Pack for $900) Amazon has been bouncing the prices on this kit all over the place since. After the sale it went back to $1500. They then dropped the 2 pack in price. They now have the 3 pack at $1100...

    Asus BQ16 Pro (BE30000 Best Buy) WiFi 7 vs ET12 vs ET8 Speeds/Connectivity

It is supposed to have "AFC" and hence 6G is "supposed" to have ranges similar to 5G, with the benefit of faster speeds that 6G implies.

    Netgear Orbi RBRE960

Old thread I know. I am sure if you IM'ed Voxel and purchased and shipped a 960 series to him, I am sure he would develop accordingly ;)

    RBK50/RBS50 Daily Disconnects

OP: When you use your wired backhaul, you are using Port 1 on the Router to Port 1 on the Satellite - correct? https://kb.netgear.com/000051205/What-is-Ethernet-backhaul-and-how-do-I-set-it-up-on-my-Orbi-WiFi-System

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.14SF-HW

@Gregger96 : You speak of NETGEAR versions 2.7.2.104 and 2.7.3.22. You also mentioned you "reverted to stock". For Voxel's 9.2.5.2.X builds you have to downgrade to NETGEAR 2.5.2.4 first; then, you can drop Voxel 9.2.5.2.X on. Just validating that you have done this. I am using 9.2.5.2.14 and...

Review ASUS Mesh Roundup: Two Zens and a TriBand

If Apple indeed rolls out 6E come September, these 6E based routers/mesh systems are going to get even hotter and hence prolong the above MSRP prices for these systems. With 90% of my home devices (barely) Wi-Fi 5 let alone Wi-Fi 6, personally, it is hard to justify anything 6E. Great article!

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.13SF-HW

This is AWESOME!!! Thank you! I did not mean to imply what Voxel does is trivial in anyway. It is definitely above my head. New upgrades can also mean new chipset drivers. That was the main point I was interested in and hence what drove my request. I put my Orbi system in AP mode and hence...

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.13SF-HW

I am assuming it will have the latest Broadcom/Qualcomm (forget which is the Orbi) drivers.

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.13SF-HW

@Voxel : NETGEAR 2.7.3.22 has been released (Router, Satellite). I also noticed that the GPL for 2.7.3.22 is there too (Here). There does not seem to be a difference in US/UK/Europe versions. In all of that free time you have, perhaps you can give 2.7.3.22 a once over?

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.13SF-HW

One person's "thin" is another "Why in the **ll did you remove that!!!" It is a bit of a slippery slope. I think Voxel has the right approach essentially just updating the binaries as new versions are released. If folks want to hack, slice and dice, they can do the same as he does.

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.12SF-HW

"Wrong"??? That is subjective. You do have an AX based system now with newer processors and the like so I would not consider it a complete loss. I suspect once Voxel upgrades ... the rest of us will too :)

Expand on RBK50 V1 or Move On?

95% of by devices are AC or N. I have a couple AX. As a result I don't see the need to get 1Gbps internet as my devices couldn't use it anyway and hence I am completely happy wtih my 300 Mbps / 30 Mbps internet with my Orbi RBR50. Last year this time with lock downs, I did adventure in my crawl...

    R7800 bufferbloat test

You might want to try different queue disciplines too. For example, I get better buffer bloat scores using Stochastic Fairness Queueing (sfq) versus Fair/Flow Queueing + Codel (fq_codel). These are options I have on my UTM (Untangle). In addition I have 300 Mbps down and 30 Mpbs up; however...

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.10SF-HW

FWIW I was on 2.7.2.104. To switch back to Voxel I did Orbi by Orbi. 1. Orbi Satellite 1 dropped back to Netgear 2.5.2.4 2. Orbi Satellite 1 changed to Voxel 9.2.5.2.10 3. Orbi Satellite 2 dropped back to Netgear 2.5.2.4 4. Orbi Satellite 2 changed to Voxel 9.2.5.2.10 5. Orbi Router dropped...

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.9SF-HW

Okay ... it wasn't just me. The other morning I was fighting disconnections all morning. Likewise, when it was connected, painfully slow. Restarted ISP modem and UTM ... still no joy. I was debating on going back to .8 but I finally broke down and installed Netgear 2.7.2.104 ... stable and...

RBR50+Voxel WAN connection capped at 100mbs

Latest Voxel is based off of the NETGEAR 2.5.x code set; hence, do NOT flash Voxel if anything higher is installed. You mentioned you have 2.7.x NETGEAR installed. DO NOT install Voxel 9.2.5.x! You will need to downgrade to stock NETGEAR 2.5.2.4 first.

Issue with Orbi RBK50 in AP Mode using Wired Backhaul Connected to XB7 in Router Mode

You figured it out. For wired from router to satellite it is port sensitive on the router and satellite. https://kb.netgear.com/000051205/What-is-Ethernet-backhaul-and-how-do-I-set-it-up-on-my-Orbi-WiFi-System Folks do claim advantages with Voxel. The catch here is each home is so different...

Issue with Orbi RBK50 in AP Mode using Wired Backhaul Connected to XB7 in Router Mode

The Satellite needs to be in the left most port, excluding the internet port.
