Stable Upgrade From 386.4 to 386.5 Failing on AC3100

For some reason when I try to upgrade the Asus RT-AC3100 from merlin stable 386.4 to 386.5 it fails with a message stating that the firmware is not compatible because they(Asus) modified the certification rule. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

    Asus AC1900 Failover

Answered by @RMerlin. This is not possible. For anyone reading this thread, failover can be achieved by using Dual WAN mode and configuring a LAN port for the failover.

    Asus AC1900 Failover

Has anyone ever tried to use the usb wan port on this router? I am considering piping in a secondary ISP provider for failover. However, the secondary ISP I would like to use provides a DOCSIS cable modem and I would like to try and use a USB to Ethernet adapter to connect the USB to the Asus...

How to setup an isolated VLAN on Merlin?

For an access point would be the correct way to do it. In other words, disable the wireless radios in the Asus Router and use an Access Point connected to one of the L2 switch ports. This way you can create a VLAN for the AP keeping it on it's own isolated VLAN, or add the AP to an existing...

How to setup an isolated VLAN on Merlin?

If you are using ONLY the guest networks for your wireless LAN setup in the router then this would work, however if you are using the non-guest networks in the router then setting up a VLAN on a switch, the VLAN trunk will lead back to the router and expose the VLAN to the non-guest wireless...

    LPR Print Server

Haven't tried it yet, but does anyone know if the Guest Networks are able to print through the Asus LPR Print Server while Intranet Access is disabled?

    OpenVPN Server and Client

I've read quite a few threads on running the OpenVPN server and client in parallel and understand that if I wish to do so and still be able to access my OpenVPN server from the WAN (away from home), I will need to setup policy based routing (aka split tunneling). That's fine with me however, I...

    Merlin 780.65 slowness

I had this problem too. Could not even get the Asus router into rescue mode, and the power light would just flash slowly after boot. Don't know if this relates to your problem, but I had to buy another router. After that problem solved. I went from the AC-RT68 to the AC1900 which is really the...

    NTP Server

I know this has probably been asked before, but I wanted to know if it would be possible to run a NTP server for local network/subnet access only using Merlin's firmware build? I have a few linux machines that I am able to modify the ntp.conf file for listening for NTP broadcasts locally only...

    Notifications (E-Mail)

Nevermind, I found it. Had to read up on Jffs. Guess I just wanted to know the conditional trigger method for running the script. I other words, what makes the script run. Thanx

So where is the correct dir to save this script? /jffs/scripts/ or save to /tmp/??? Reason I ask, sorry I know this seems very shallow, but you stated that this script will survive reboot, but may or will not survive flashing. I noticed at the end of the bash script that 'rm /tmp/mail.txt' is...

What would the wget command with' --no-check--certificate' look like?

I know is an old post but I'm having some trouble with the Gmail method. When logging in to the root using ssh, I tried to use the 'wget' method exactly as you have posted, and get a return error stating that I cannot download the certificate without using the --no-check-certificate. Whats that...
