Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 is now available for AC models

Storage was an audio cassette recorder (on my 16K Model I I paid $999 for). What'd you expect ;)?

Is config backup file transferable between routers of the same model?

I wish I had known this last year when I set up my dad's new router (AC-68U running John's Fork) . I restored the config from my backup of the same model. While things have been running fine (it's 100+ miles from my house), I would like to fix this to prevent any future problems. Will a 'hard...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Just in case John was waiting for post # 10,000 before his return, I thought I'd help tilt the scale. [emoji6]

YazFi YazFi - enhanced AsusWRT-Merlin Guest WiFi inc. SSID <-> VPN Client

I've been following this thread for awhile now and am getting ready to dip my toes in. But first I have a couple of questions... 1) Currently, I'm using 2 RT-AC68U's running the latest 'E' version of John's fork (39E3). One is set up as a router only (Wi-Fi is disabled) and the other is an...

Free (or very cheap) OpenVPN services with multiple US locations

Never heard of FastestVPN. However, I'm successfully using NordVPN running in the router and watching every MLB game I want (except for nationally televised games, of course) using MLB.TV running on my Raspberry Pi under OSMC (Kodi).

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

John's implementation of DNS in the VPN client is different than Merlin's. See below for a complete explanation.

I knew those permissions didn't seem correct, but I'm using them successfully on /jffs/configs/dnsmasq.conf.add, so I thought that's what was needed here as well. Thanks! In hindsight, they're obviously Apples and Oranges...

Is anyone here successfully using a postconf script for an OpenVPN Server? I created openvpnserver1.postconf, placed it in /jffs/scripts/, and set the permissions to 666. Contents of jffs/scripts/openvpnserver1.postconf#!/bin/sh CONFIG=$1 source /usr/sbin/helper.sh pc_delete duplicate-cn...

It actually starts out 'If you have a local repo...'. I assume, based on your question, that you don't, correct? That would then mean it doesn't apply to you.

He lists "the big things" in the points directly above your quote. If John had felt it was worth his time to list every dot and tittle, I'm sure he would have done so. Perhaps a better way to ask your question would be to ask about a specific feature or function that was important to you.

Thanks, again, John! It's working perfectly fine in 30E3. No more symlink is required and it's actually showing a bit more free nvram than before (74% utilized vs 77% before the update). Thank you for going through the hassle of making a build just for this fix. It certainly wasn't necessary...

Thanks so much! And I will update my certs again, first thing in the morning, and let you know my results. I'd do it straightaway, but we're streamers and it's prime time. ;)

Nope. I'm not doing anything except moving the certs from jffs to nvram, updating the certs and moving them back to jffs. I have 2 AC-68U's - one as a router the other as an Access Point. Same thing on both. Below is the cheat sheet I use for executing the update.: https://pastebin.com/y85C1tBj

This has been present in every update, including the latest (30E2). Is it still your intention to fix it or should I plan to continue on using the workaround? EDIT: I just re-read my message and the tone is certainly not what I meant to convey. Sorry for that. What I really meant to ask is if...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I'm running v28L2 on 2 RT-AC68U's - 1 as a Router and the 2nd as an Access Point. Since it's now time again for me to update my Let's Encrypt certs, I used to the cheat sheet I used the last time to update the certs on my Access Point. However, the steps I successfully used the last time...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Actually, it'd probably be my preference to do things this way. The entire point of my using this fork is to have the older more reliable functionality, yet still have the latest security patches and features. As there has been some question of the value (or possibly negative value) in using the...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I'm still on 26E4 and needed to update my expiring Let's Encrypt certificates on the router. This was the first time doing this on 26E4. I had done it multiple times on previous versions. I moved the old certs from jffs to nvram using the 'https2nvram' command and removed the old certs...

[Fork] 374.43 LTS Beta including new rev AC68U routers (V27BI)

If you don't mind the extra work involved with replacing the bootloader, etc., the T-Mobile AC-1900 is 100% the same hardware as the AC-68U and with a little time and effort can be converted to a 100% working AC-68U. You should also be able to buy them for around $70. I've bought and converted...
