    XD4 Still supported by Asus??

So I have 2 Ax88Us, one in router mode, one an AiMesh node with wired backhaul. I thought that was all I'd need. However, we had reception problems in one room so added a cheap XD4 node to fill in. All works but I've noticed the XD4 is still on 386 firmware from last July. Anyone here know if...

Any way to force an optimisation at a time after automated reboot

OK, so let's try your approach for the moment. Core problem is mDNS packets stop propagating around the mesh after a period of time meaning devices eventually cannot find each other. It is reported widely here and elsewhere. Reboot will fix for a while, sometimes days. Scheduled reboots do not...

Just not helpful. But thanks for reading!

Any way to force an optimisation at a time after automated reboot

Scheduled reboot is at 4am. I noticed at 9am the Zen node was still connected to the main router with a "weak" connection. One press of the optimisation button and it was fixed. Evidence suggests the router was the first box to come back after the reboot, the Zen connected to it as the only...

Any way to force an optimisation at a time after automated reboot

So, this shouldn't really be a problem but it is and I'm looking for a workaround! I have 2 AX88s with wired backhaul and one Zen Mini with 5Ghz backhaul (no wired internet available) pushing WiFi into one room the other 2 only marginally reach. The Zen is significantly closer to the secondary...

    ZenWifi XD4 Don't Work Don't Buy!

I have one XD4 doing great work pushing AX into the far corner of our house with wireless backhaul to an RT-AX88U, itself using wired backhaul to another AX88U. It seems to do it's job perfectly. My only comment would be the small box clearly limits the capability of the antenna. Compared to...

Smart Connect leads to service discovery issues and radio unreliability?

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll leave it off until some firmware update suggests it's been substantially improved and then give it another whirl!

Smart Connect leads to service discovery issues and radio unreliability?

Is anyone else seeing the above? I have two RT-AX88U boxes, on latest Asus firmware, in AiMesh mode, with wired backhaul. Mostly default settings are being used. Smart Connect is using all defaults. All works perfectly with Smart Connect off but when turned on: 1. Service discovery is really...

    Problems with Windows Network Discovery

Thanks for the replies. So I've been trying to get to the bottom of this all day and still haven't found anything definitive online about how Windows 11 (and latter versions of Windows 10) discovers the local network, now homegroups and master browsers are not used for domain-free networks...

    Problems with Windows Network Discovery

Hi, I have 2 RT-AX88U's in an AIMesh with wired backhaul. They are on the latest (I believe) 3.0.0.4.388_20558 firmware. I'm having problems where Windows 11 PCs can no longer find each other by network name (e.g. for file sharing) when on a mix of ethernet and Wifi. Connecting by IP address...

    5Ghz goes down

What version are you on? Been on 380.64_2 for a long time now and the 5Ghz radio no longer crashes.

    Daily crash/lockup ac56u 380.63_2 (and earlier versions)

If you haven't enabled aiProtection then it's probably something else for you. Traffic Analysis has also been suspected. But for those who think aiProtection may be the cause, it's worth going to "alert preferences" and unticking all options, even if you do not have an email address configured...

    Daily crash/lockup ac56u 380.63_2 (and earlier versions)

12 days uptime since I unticked all AIprotection email alerts. Has anyone else tried this?

    Daily crash/lockup ac56u 380.63_2 (and earlier versions)

I have also been chasing this issue on my 87u for some time. Right now, following a post from one other guy on here, I think, I am wondering if it could be caused by AI Protection's alert preferences. By default it is set to send emails for vulnerability protection and infected device events...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

If you mean using some of the included features in intended ways (e.g. aiProtection, maybe Traffic Analysis) is the cause of the router being unstable, I agree. But that's not particularly helpful! We don't buy these expensive routers to turn off all but the most basic features. Now, I'm...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

Can anyone suggest a stable Merlin release for the AC87U, because these constant random reboots have just got beyond a joke? Funny thing was it was stable for over a week when I disabled TA, but with no other changes its now rare it stays up for 24 hours. Hard to give any useful info to help...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

A few of us reported this a couple of weeks ago. Turning off Traffic Analysis seemed to work for me for over a week, but my router has now rebooted 4 times overnight. It seems something odd is going on.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

Yes, I saw your earlier post. I saw exactly the same thing as you - repeatedly, a hard reset in the log with no visible error message after 20-24 hours. But here, if AIProtection is involved, it's an interaction with Traffic Analysis. Turning off Traffic Analysis has fixed it here. QoS and...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

3 days uptime now Traffic Analysis is off on my AC87U. The router could not stay up for more than 24 hours with TA on. RMerlin, is this a known issue? Is there anything I can do to narrow down the problem?
