Having two access points vs AiMesh?

I couldn't get it to work. I suspect my VLAN script was causing something to break. I even tried bring router 2 upstairs to directly connect it to router 1 and still wouldn't add it as a node. My setup: Pfsense ---> Switch ---------> ASUS Router 1 (MESH ROUTER / AP Mode) ---------> ASUS...

Having two access points vs AiMesh?

I wonder if its because I have the routers connected together via switch rather than directly. I wanted to avoid daisy chaining the routers to avoid both access point going down in the case of a power outrage. (Each router has its own UPS)

Having two access points vs AiMesh?

At some point "Access Point(AP) mode / AiMesh Router in AP mode" became a thing, which is why I thought I could do it, but I guess not. I don't really need VLAN to work on the Node, but the the router acting as the AP absolutely needs to.

Having two access points vs AiMesh?

I currently have an AC66U-B1 and a AC68P. Both are running the exact same merlin firmware RT-AC68U_386.13_0. Both are set to "Access Point(AP) mode / AiMesh Router in AP mode", both routers are wired directly to my pfsense router, and both routers have scripts enabled so I can use VLANs. I set...

Looking for a router that runs off 5V and has openvpn client support

I did see this device, however the openwrt page said "This device is NOT RECOMMENDED for future use with OpenWrt" so I figured it might not be good at openvpn.

Looking for a router that runs off 5V and has openvpn client support

Looking for a small travel router that I can power off a USB power bank. Openvpn client is a must as I want to remote into my home network. I don't mind building my own thing or flashing third third party fw as well if that's optimal. I'll rarely use the Ethernet ports. Will mainly be...

    AiMesh or APs instead?

Don't want to lose the ability to use custom scripts, so I can't revert :(. I already have VLANs working through custom scripts. While native VLAN would definitely be nice, no reason to change it now while I already have it working I know it's gimmicky, but I figured it would be worth it for...

    AiMesh or APs instead?

I have two AC68Ps in access point mode. I use pfsense as main router. Both AC68Ps running 386.7_2 by merlin. Both access points have an ethernet backhaul to pfsense. I currently have each setup with separate SSIDs, and on distinct channels. This works fine but sometimes I found my devices...

    Max wireless throughput on RT-AC1900P

What's your laptop getting for link speed? Check right by your router if you can. That might give us an idea of why your transfers are so slow. Swtiching between 20/40/80 should make significant differences in performance.

    Has Asus abandoned asuscomm.com DDNS

Is it possible to use DDNS while the router is in AP mode? I'm just using freedns but I need to login every now and then to keep my account alive, which is a pain.

    Max wireless throughput on RT-AC1900P

I don't know if this was tried, but have you set the channel width to 80Mhz on your router? I just tried copying a file off my NAS on my laptop 2x2 AC laptop from my AC1900. I'm getting ~50-55MBps. This through a few walls and one floor. With wired I get around 100-109MBps

Android phones can't connect to access point

I use pfsense for routing, and use my AC66U and AC68P as access points. Currently facing an odd issue where my Android devices don't get an IP address from certain SSIDs on the AC68P. When I set an IP address on the Android side, I am able to connect to the router, but I don't get internet...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

On Merlin and stock Txpower adjustment is a slider between performance and power saving. On this fork you can choose the actual value. Is that the main differentiator between the two in terms of wifi performance? I"m seeing lots of threads saying more tx power is bad or doesn't always help...

    Setting up VLANs on AC68P

Looks like I had some small mistakes in my script. The following works for me. I've updated the OP. I haven't tested whether wireless clients are isolated, but at the very least something on ASUS [Guest] can't connect to someone on VLAN1 (untagged). DCHP server is working as intended too. Will...

    Setting up VLANs on AC68P

Thanks. I just copied the filename that was on the github link (the missing s was a typo I made in the thread). Did not realize the .sh was missing things up. The LAN tagging is working now.

    Setting up VLANs on AC68P

Hey all, I use my AC68P as an AP, and I'm trying to get VLAN tagging working on it. I've had some success but I think I need some help to complete this. I want router to have the following VLANs: VLAN Physical Ports Wireless 1 (Default) WAN, LAN1, LAN2, LAN3 2.4G / 5G 20 2.4G / 5G 30...

Connection Sharing in a Single MAC-Address Restricted Service Access

I was looking at IPTV subscriptions. I'm new to this stuff, but judging by the forums I've been reading, activation seems to have something to do with MAC addresses.

Connection Sharing in a Single MAC-Address Restricted Service Access

So WAN --> Internet Connection --> Special Requirement from ISP Oh. then how do those subscription based services limit people to using one device per account? If there's no ID or login
