Synology drives only (DS1522+) - OUCH!

Synology's drives are just Toshiba drives with a different model identifier and label. Mostly they're Toshiba N300.

    Unable to find AiMesh node

I've only ever been able to get AiMesh working when I set it up using the Asus Router app on an iPhone. It's never worked for me using Android or the web admin. Bizarre, I know, but that's my experience.

    2.5gbe port logistics?

It's pretty simple to me, 2.5GBe WAN, inbuilt WiFi doing 1200Mb each way to WiFi6 clients, and then 1Gbe to the wired network. It's very easy to saturate the 2.5G WAN if you're using the WiFi6 and ethernet heavily.

    Setting aimesh nodes

Have to say I never had any luck with the AX92U. Swapped them for AX56U and they've been pretty much flawless for over a year of heavy work-from-home use. I've also just added an AX55 to one of the networks to cover the outside workshop, and it seems to be a 56U without the USB ports, and...

The Asus ZenWiFi AX XT8 is a POS, right?

Or just buy a pair (or more) AX-56U which have a better CPU that some of the more expensive units?

Asus ZenWiFi Pro (ET12, XT12) sneak peek

I suppose luddites like you still buy computer magazines, and like your news 2 months old? ;)

    AX92U - Underrated?

No. If AiMesh is turned ON, 5GHz-2 is reserved for WiFi backhaul. It is unusable for clients, so therefore to clients it's effectively off. This applies if you're using WiFi or ethernet backhaul. Yes, it's rediculous. It's an AX router than you can't use AX on if you put it in AiMesh...

    AX92U - Underrated?

There is, but it still keeps the 5GHz-2 turned off even if ethernet backhaul is specified.

Router not getting internet back after WAN drop

It's usually the WAN DHCP lease not renewing, and it's the ISP's issue. I have the same problem here, where I use the ISP's cable router in modem mode. If I reboot my main Asus, it'll sometimes not get a DHCP lease off the modem. I then have to reboot the modem (which takes nearly 10 minutes...

    AX92U - Underrated?

Usefully AiMesh uses 5GHz-2 for the backhaul, even if you're using ethernet. As I said, wheels fall off.

    Pi-Hole or Diversion or Unbound?

I use AdGuard Home running in Docker on my unRAID home server. It's been totally solid for nearly a year now. It does all DNS for the house. My unRAID box is an i3-10100 based machine so performance is excellent.

    AX92U - Underrated?

I have a 92U, and on it's own it's a great router. But, the wheels fall off completely if you try and use AiMesh - it always does really strange stuff with the 3rd band (turns it off is the main issue). I'm not sure if the 5GHz-1 radio that remains is indeed WiFi6 or not. So, I don't use the...

Question for RP-AX56 as media bridge

RT-AX56U has media bridge, repeater, AI node, AI Mesh router, and AI Mesh AP modes. But, you're saying RP-AX56U and I don't know if it's just a typo or a different model.

    RP-AX56 Aimesh Ethernet Backhaul

I run a AX56U in my garage, and I can get a 5GHz signal over 20m away at the far end of the garden. That same unit also covers one end of the house inside. The main router is in the middle of the house, and one is at the other end. The three routers give solid 5GHz connection across the half...

Which ASUS AX Routers support DFS?

Can confirm the AC56U supports DFS channels. They're great routers, I have 5 of them across two houses, and had zero issues with them. No hestitation in recommending.

No. How would they work at all if on a guest network?

Block IP address blocks (Youtube) on specific devices?

Could I suggest using something like AdGuard Home? It's great for this sort of thing, is free for home use, and runs on anything like a RasPi/NAS/Docker etc.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

Anyone having issues with Chromecasts disappearing off the network? A few of mine go AWOL off the Google Home app, but are still visible in the network list on the router.
