    Uctalk

Thanks for this. I saw that I was uploading gigabytes of "UcTalk" but not downloading much. This comment leads me to believe it was from a friend streaming from my Plex server to her Chromecast, since the amount uploaded seems to match up with Plex's remote streaming bandwidth usage stats.

How can I put WiFi on different VLAN and force its packets to go through an external switch & back?

This is on an RT-AC68U. I understand this would require setting up different VLANS, and I've read through previous threads, but I haven't been able to wrap my head around what commands to use in the startup scripts. My robocfg show is the default: 1: vlan1: 1 2 3 4 5t 2: vlan2: 0 5 I...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.64_2 is now available

For the past couple of versions, the arp cache on the AC-68U keeps "losing" devices every now and then even though they're still connected. They used to remain on the list as long as they were connected and immediately disappeared within 60 seconds of disconnection, but now they sometimes hang...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.64_2 is now available

I've noticed that the Wireless Log for 380.64 on a router being used in AP-only mode does not show the hostnames under the IP addresses like the router mode does. It just says "<unknown>".

HFS+ USB drives (e.g. for Time Capsule) often mount with "(1)" appended to their names on restart

It's not, it's plugged into the USB 2.0 port. I checked the source and I seem to be falling victim to the following check: int the_same_name = 0; while(check_if_file_exist(mountpoint) || check_if_dir_exist(mountpoint)){ ++the_same_name; sprintf(mountpoint...

HFS+ USB drives (e.g. for Time Capsule) often mount with "(1)" appended to their names on restart

But the name of the drive is defined, as in it has a name (it's not just named sda/sdb/sdc/etc.). Unless there is something else that has to be done.

HFS+ USB drives (e.g. for Time Capsule) often mount with "(1)" appended to their names on restart

This breaks Time Capsule and any computers on LAN that are auto-mounting/mapping the network share, since the name is now unrecognizable. On RT-AC68U with latest Merlin. Only happens with HFS+ shares such as Time Capsule/Mac-formatted drives, not NTFS ones. Logs: Feb 14 04:34:08 hotplug[929]...

A way to see network clients that are connected to APs that are connected to the Asus router?

Did a factory reset, with no response. And then cleared my cookies... and now I can view clients connected to other APs.

    Almost bricked my router

No solution, but after updating to 380.57 and during the process of manually reconfiguring my settings after the factory reset, I came to that Other Settings page. After I saved my settings, the router rebooted but failed to restore its wireless, and began rebooting over and over. I had to...

A way to see network clients that are connected to APs that are connected to the Asus router?

Yes, the clients are also missing from the Wireless Log as well as the DHCP Leases log. They only show up on the DHCP Leases log (until their lease expires) if they roam into the main router's wireless network at some point. Otherwise, no trace of them being on the network is even shown, even...

A way to see network clients that are connected to APs that are connected to the Asus router?

Here's an update: just tried the ASUS Router app from ASUS, and it showed all of the clients on the network, no matter what AP they were connected to. So this seems to be a failure of the Client List on the firmware's GUI. Then again, my AC68U also doesn't respect USB spindown times anymore, no...

A way to see network clients that are connected to APs that are connected to the Asus router?

Yep, seems to work for non-ASUS access points, but not with my ASUS RT-N66U as an access point. The RT-N66U AP can't see wireless clients on the router in its own Network Map clients list either; the old Netgear AP could display all the wireless clients connected to the main router. So this...

A way to see network clients that are connected to APs that are connected to the Asus router?

That would be fine, but as I wrote, this is only for using the old crappy Netgear AP. I can't even see clients (on the client list) that are connected to the new ASUS AP, let alone see them as wired. It's not NAT or something, since I can still access and discover the ASUS AP's clients just...

A way to see network clients that are connected to APs that are connected to the Asus router?

I have a RT-AC68U with a RT-N66U attached to it by ethernet being used as an access point. The client list on the AC68U, despite it being the main router and the one assigning IP addresses to the N66U's clients, doesn't show the wireless clients that are connected to the N66U access point...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.57 is now available

Thought so, but the checksum checks out, so probably not a bad download.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.57 is now available

Reset to factory settings and updated the 68U to this new version from 56_2. Things seemed fine at first, but while I was going through putting settings back manually, the router suddenly restarted with the WiFi disabled. No response after reboots and resets, and the router began rebooting...

Let's Encrypt is now trusted by all major browsers... AiCloud SSL problems solved?

This was a fairly big bit of news today, where Let's Encrypt, a free SSL certificate provider, is now trusted by major browsers and will start providing free SSL certification in November 2015. I know I've had lots of issues with AiCloud's annoying self-signed certificate "solution", especially...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.55 is now available

I don't know if anyone else has reported this, but since going from .54.2 to .55, my hard drives spin down after like 5 minutes of idle use, instead of the 8 hours that I set it to, or any other time setting. Normally this would be a good thing, since having Download Master enabled previously...
