    Powerline G.hn vs AV2 discussions

Look for reviews of the Devolo Magic (a family G.hn adapters from a German company). You wil find several comparisons with AV2 adapters. Probably still to expensive compared to their somehow slower AV2 cousins.

    Why You Don't Need MU-MIMO

How do they handle MU-MIMO with 2x2 and 3x3 clients? Do the clients switch to 1x1? If not, these tests are not really testing MU-MIMO given that the APs are only 4x4.

    looking for a good 802.11AX / 1024QAM access point

The new Omada EAP660 HD but is not cheap. The 620 is better priced but it only has GbE.

    GT-AC2900 - 160MHz not available if 2.4GHz set to ch 11?

Support for 160Mhz channels was optional in AC and rarely implemented. They can still connect using 80Mhz.

    GT-AC2900 - 160MHz not available if 2.4GHz set to ch 11?

There are not that many AX devices that can use 160Mhz channels. An even fewer that can use 160Mhz in AC mode

    How to make this network

You will need to identify the addresses of their servers and define routes to them through the second router; you will also need to identify and open the port used by their apps/services. I never owned any of their products, but I see that they made it to the US sanctions list ;-)

    How to make this network

I would not expose the cameras to the internet without a secure tunnel (established with VPN software). I am not familiar with that app. Does it expose the cameras through some cloud service? do you trust their service?

    Cat 7A help needed

That is some badly made termination. I would put 6A Keystones (or equivalent) on both ends of the cables. Then store-bought cables between the devices and the ports.

    How to make this network

Just to make the terminology on the picture clear: 1) Handy is a smartphone, right? 2) By modem you mean a device that combines modem+router+wireless access point It seems that need a 4G modem+router with VPN support. You would need a VPN client app in the phone and computer used outside your...

    Mesh setup advice

I could be misremembering, but isn't 802.11r's mobility domain bound to one ESSID? So fast transition can only happen within one SSID?

    Mesh setup advice

It should not cause any issues and it should help with roaming. Keep the band split but use one SSID per band. Use the same credentials on each router. Best if you use different 80Mhz channels for each of them. At home I use 36-48, 52-64 and 100-112 (the last two are DFS but they work in my...

    Mesh setup advice

Why do you use different SSIDs on each AC3100? If you want devices to roam the AP should share the SSID. In my house I have 3 APs (one on each floor); I split the network into 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz SSIDs. Laptops and smartphones use the 5Ghz band. Roaming usually works quite well. The floors of the...

    Cat 7A help needed

Cat 7 and Cat 7a are dead-end technologies but the cable is backwards compatible with 6/6A and 5e. For 25Gbase-T and 40Gbase-T IEEE 802.3bq defined the use of Cat 8 for up to 30m. They skipped Cat 7a.

    GT-AC2900 - 160MHz not available if 2.4GHz set to ch 11?

Do you have any device compatible with this?. As far I can tell it only works with cards based on Intel Wireless-AC 9260 and 9560. It might not be worth trying to get this running

    GT-AC2900 - 160MHz not available if 2.4GHz set to ch 11?

The first hit in Google (in English) in this one https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/9220/asus-rog-rapture-gt-ac2900-wireless-router-review/index.html and this video showing the two connected together:

    GT-AC2900 - 160MHz not available if 2.4GHz set to ch 11?

There are some reviews that mentioned the 160Mhz support. Asus had a compatible PCI card: https://www.asus.com/Networking-IoT-Servers/Adapters/All-series/PCE-AC58BT/

    GT-AC2900 - 160MHz not available if 2.4GHz set to ch 11?

It seems to have a Boost mode with 160Mhz support: No idea how it works

    Cat 7A help needed

You payed more than needed by installing 7a but you should be fine. Are both ends terminated with RJ45? If so just use any 6A or 6 cables (or even 5e) to connect your female RJ45 to a switch or device. If you need to terminate the other ends, use any 6A or 6 patch panel port, keystone module or...

    Asus XT8 (AX6600) 160MHz Client Channel Provision

You can use 160Mhz in the 36-64 channel if the router allows it. Unfortunately Asus made the choice in the XT8 of splitting the channels between the two 5Ghz radios. Radio 1 can use the 36-64 channels but can't do 160Mhz; radio 2 can do 160Mhz but can't use 36-64. This breaks 160Mhz support on...

AImesh first timer and couple of quick ac router questions

AiMesh likes to play the role of router. For your use case just disable it and configure the two AC5300 as APs; preferable wired to your switch via a LAN port. If you need a wireless backhaul, configure one of the 5Ghz radios as a bridge. As a side note: if you are going wired, having two...
