AiMesh working and updating working on AX88U

I never could get my node to be recognized during pairing using a wired connection, I had to do it wirelessly; once it was paired, I put the node where I needed it, then connected the wired backhaul.

AiMesh working and updating working on AX88U

Gitsum, how do you have the routers sitting in relation to each other when you try to pair them? You may have to, as I did, basically have them sitting side-by-side (within about 2-3 feet of each other) when you do the initial pairing and set them up using wireless to begin with, with no wired...

AiMesh working and updating working on AX88U

In Acrylic, WPS is showing off in both modes on all nodes; I turned it back on to double-check, then turned it back off and checked again.

AiMesh working and updating working on AX88U

I disabled WPS on my AiMesh setup once it was all set up, in-place, and running and I have had nary a problem in several months of service, and that's with at least 2-3 FW upgrades since.

AiMesh working and updating working on AX88U

Which is exactly why Merlin disabled AiMesh, because the AiMesh binaries do conflict with his optimizations; he didn't do that just for the fun of it. Believe me, I know because I tried re-enabling AiMesh in Merlin's FW for about a month when I first got my AC86U; it was cool in the beginning...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.10 is now available

Yes... I was using the *.w file. However, removing my Diversion/Skynet USB drive did the trick; I was able to upgrade after that.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.10 is now available

It's been the correct file every time I tried; still, no dice.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.10 is now available

Can't upgrade my AC86U to 384.10 from 384.9, it keeps through "firmware flashing unsuccessful"; I tried Chrome and IE, I tried (re)downloading through multiple SF mirrors, I even tried unzipping it through Windows 10's built-in ZIP utility and through 7-Zip. All failed; what could be happening...

    Merlin Password Length

None that I'm aware; I found this out the hard way myself a long time ago. The 16-character limit is a limitation of the AsusWRT firmware, whether it's stock, Merlin, or another fork; the best you can probably do in this case is to factory reset, then set your password no longer than 16...

    RT-AC5300 Wireless Info/Merlin and AiMesh

So far, yes; I had it on with 384_8beta 2 and it stayed when I upgraded to 384_8 stable.

    RT-AC5300 Wireless Info/Merlin and AiMesh

Cable modem -> AC86U (running Merlin as the router with AiMesh options re-enabled via the SSH commands in post #3 and WiFi enabled) - > 24-port Cisco GbE switch -> two AC1750_B1s (running stock Asus FW as AiMesh nodes), each using wired backhaul to the AC86U

A "Sophie's Choice": AiMesh or Merlin?

    RT-AC5300 Wireless Info/Merlin and AiMesh

See the SSH commands in post #3. But, as Merlin alluded to in his following posts, it may cause issues, since he can't check and tailor his code against the closed AiMesh sources, so that puts it strictly in "at your own risk" territory.

    RT-AC5300 Wireless Info/Merlin and AiMesh

So far, I'd been running the 384_8 betas on my new AC86U for the past couple of weeks (and just upgraded to 384_8 stable tonight) with AiMesh enabled as a AiMesh router for two AC1750_B1s serving as AiMesh nodes, because I just couldn't do without Skynet and Diversion once I had tried them on my...

USB Flash Drive Size for Diversion and Skynet

As the thread title says, I'm running Skynet and Diversion on my AC56U (soon to be a AC86U) and I'm looking for the best USB flash drive size to use with Diversion and Skynet. I'm using a 16GB ADATA USB3 flash drive temporarily and performance seems OK, but it sticks out more than I'd like from...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Just want to say, long-time Merlin user that just recently looked into at-depth about Diversion (and Skynet); installed both tonight on my AC56U, disabled Adblock Origin in my browser, refreshed everything and: OMFG...why did I wait so long to do this? Kudos to thelonelycoder and Adamm for...

A "Sophie's Choice": AiMesh or Merlin?

Hmmm...that sounds like about a very good way to have my cake (running Merlin on the router, where I can take advantage of his optimizations, as well as security enhancements such as Skynet and Diversion, which I haven't played with yet) and eat it too (being able to use AiMesh for the APs)...

A "Sophie's Choice": AiMesh or Merlin?

I've been running Merlin on my Asus routers for a few years now (my current routers are a RT-AC56U [which Asus and Merlin just EOL'ed] and a RT-AC66U [which got EOL'ed a good while back by Asus and Merlin, but which I kept since it's not my main router, just as an AP]). I have a simple...

State of the project (August 2016)

RMerlin, let me say that I do certainly appreciate the work you do; I feel my routers perform better when they're running your firmware. However, I starting to feel like a two-time loser, because I started running Asuswrt-Merlin with my RT-N16 a couple of years ago perhaps, then Asuswrt-Merlin...
