    I just re-read my post. I hope you didn't take it as upset, sarcastic, or snarky. :) The log for the failure on the USB 3.0 mount seemed to indicate the USB hub built into the drive was getting in the way. Thanks again!

    Account limit on Samba share, password length

    The Plus (+) icon was grayed out in Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk. I found the only way to enable it was to delete a user. There appears to be a user limit. It seems like once you scan this drive with the router's utility, it marks the drive as bad and despite scanning clean on a Windows PC, it maintains that status.     Interesting... I reflashed with the stock firmware and the drive worked. I then rescanned and got the same error. I reflashed with the stock firmware again and the drive worked. I then flashed with Merlin and it worked. So there you have it - if you have a WD 4TB MyBook, don't scan your drive...
