RT AX86U: problems with 2.4g devices on smart connection

Did you try using manual connection mode instead of the default auto discovery for your smart stuff? Thats how I got my Wiz bulbs to connect. Sure I had to connect each bulb manually instead of Auto discover and connect all the bulbs together, but they work flawlessly so far after all that hard...

RT-AX86U unknown device COMPAL INFORMATION (KUNSHAN) CO shown in Network map list

Asus's detection of the type of connected device is really buggy. There are many times some of my WIFI connected devices are shown as ethernet connected devices. As long as you recognize that device, that part can safely be ignored. As mentioned above, look for the mac address of that device...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

There is no difference between the AX200 and the AX201, both are the exact same thing with a different interfaces only. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000054819/network-and-io/wireless.html If both laptops have capable specifications to match your WiFi/Internet speeds...

Guest Network on 386 builds doesn't play nice with Chromecast, and a potential workaround

Logically, Isolation is supposed to not allow ANY communication, even between two isolated networks. If you can communicate with any device, regardless how you communicate, via chromecast in this case, then your network is not isolated anymore and it defeats its purpose in the first place. Put...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Just coming in to mention that looks like 386 doesn't fix my AX86U refusing to recognize my as4002t when connected from its 10G port to the 2.5G port on the router. I know that this is Asus at fault and unlikely there will be a fix introduced by merlin, but since I jumped straight to merlin...

Is here a RT-AX86U owner willing to do some tests?

I'm on 500/100. Connected to AX86U via Wifi 6 5Ghz, Laptop with an AX200. Both AIProtection and Adaptive QOS is enabled. Pandemic Download speeds has been meh, but upload speeds are constantly maxed so far.

    AX86U Dropping 2.4

Check your logs. If you find the WiFi keeps reinitializing, or there seems to be kernel errors, you may have a lemon. My AX86U ended up showing these entries in its logs, so I had it sent back to Asus.

    RT-AX86U/RT-AX5700 hits the FCC

mPCIe AX200 has a HMW postfix aka the AX200 HMW. Seems to have been discontinued, so probably the OEM is rebranding them to try avoid any problems with Intel maybe? Maybe it was created just for China market. Also even though you have an older laptop and bought the M.2 AX200 NGW, you can buy...

    RT-AX86U 2.5G Port Compatibility

Just thought I post my experience here regarding the 2.5G port on my AX86U. I am using a Asustor AS4002t NAS. When the AX86U came out, I purchased it thinking I could use the 2.5G port to connect to my NAS 10G port and get a 2.5G connection. It even advertises on the box that you can connect PC...

[RT-AC68U] Not getting Gigabit with Realtek Lan

A little update for people who have any issues like mine. Ive actually gave up on the realteks and change those motherboards to intel and killer based lan a while back, and no surprise they ran fine on gigabit. I am also running merlin since tomato has sort of been abandoned. That killer chip...

    NextDNS Installer

I have contacted support chat before. The issue improved for a while, but right now it became worse and seems to have connected to an even further node than usual, based on the ping page. I am just trying to to see if I can set some devices to just use other DNS. Most of the users in the house...

    NextDNS Installer

When using this installer, is there anyway to set certain devices to not use NextDNS and just use the router's DNS? There are devices that don't play well with NextDNS relatively high latency since its not consistent in picking your closest node. I would like those devices to just use other DNS...

    Tutorial Aria2 - WebUI on AsusWRT-Merlin

Best case usage is for you to save on your electricity bills. Running your PC the whole day just for downloading your entertainment can be expensive both directly and indirectly, as your PC also contributes heat to your house which makes your cooler work harder and use even more electricity. So...

Unbound unbound_manager (Manager/Installer utility for unbound - Recursive DNS Server)

No citation provided. I've so far found no definitive answer as to whether is it really the case that your ISP can't just see what does your unbound setup communicate to those authoritative name servers. Not saying your ISP or other DNS providers are any better, but this shouldn't be stated as...

Is there a good place to give your devices a friendly/custom name?

Check whether your phone allows you to change its device name. Some android phones officially allow this. If you are running custom roms and/or rooted, there are apps that help you change them if you can't find the setting.

    question about dlna

Looking forward to having dsd support for asus's minidlna. Possibly can you look into the patch which allows higher resolution for album art thumbnails as well? Would be nice to display high quality album art to go along with our high quality music.

[RT-AC68U] Not getting Gigabit with Realtek Lan

Noted, although I would prefer a PCIe card considering the slot positions on my motherboard. And unfortunately, I don't earn American Dollars so for me it is not "just a few dollars". I'm not gonna try something that may not work and end up with paper weight. Realtek just doesn't inspire...

[RT-AC68U] Not getting Gigabit with Realtek Lan

Considering that I'm having bad experience with the built-in Realtek NIC, I seriously doubt I will be buying a PCI card with another Realtek chip on it . Thanks but no thanks. I can get those cards locally, the ones I can't get are those that are not based on Realtek.

[RT-AC68U] Not getting Gigabit with Realtek Lan

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be changing to a new PC probably by the time Kaby Lake desktops CPUs arrive over here. It is very hard to find PCIE gigabit cards here, let alone Intel ones. And it's probably more worth it to wait a while and replace my PCs instead of importing them PCIE gigabit...
