Any way to disable the ASUSTek Hidden Networks?

SO now i have one dilemma, one of my APs is not a asusmerlin node so i can not force the nvram setting on boot. I do not recall but is there a way to do a startup script for non merlin nodes. I recall some nvram field was exploitable before.... hmmmm I think this exploit needed a usb port...

Any way to disable the ASUSTek Hidden Networks?

Nope WPS is off, Aimesh backhual enabled, and no WPA3. I do notice this is only 5ghz. These routers all have 1 band of 5ghz

Any way to disable the ASUSTek Hidden Networks?

I bet its the WPS section, trying that now. Main router is ax86u with latest asusmerlin, the other machines either are merlin or stock because its not supported.

Any way to disable the ASUSTek Hidden Networks?

No these are all their own AP mode, even in AP mode they have aimesh sestion where you can toggle aimesh settings because each AP can be a Ai Mesh router

Any way to disable the ASUSTek Hidden Networks?

I am using various ASUS routers in AP mode since I gave up on Aimesh. I noticed all these AP's now have 5ghz hidden network broadcasting. I already went to each AP in the aimesh page and enabled ethernet backhual mode. but it appears to have not done anything. Does anyone know of a nvram...

Found a way to make AImesh nodes to have different channels!

I would do the same probably one day. I personally like the single point of view so I need a brand that uses a wifi controller. Atleast for now my network is fraction of the cost of others with ofcourse the cravats, but I love to tinker so finding solutions is sometimes more fun. Deja vu?

Wired backhaul AX AiMesh nodes, how to configure for 160Mhz/DFS when AX Router is also set for 160Mhz/DFS

So my issue i posted earlier where aimesh would not hold 160mhz was a firmware bug. It was resolved a version or two ago. I extensively worked on aimesh node optimization and concluded that you can do the following while keeping aimesh. 1. Separate channels for both 2.4ghz and 5 ghz...

Wired backhaul AX AiMesh nodes, how to configure for 160Mhz/DFS when AX Router is also set for 160Mhz/DFS

Aimesh changes via nvram never work. You need to use the “wl” command directly to overdo the main routers settings. I got channel and width working because wireless service can be restarted to change that. Since I have different channels for everything I max the power so I have not tried to see...

replacing aimesh node. which one to pick

Wpa3 only or wpa2 only. Your remote speeds should have increased. Did you link the two with 2.5g? Otherwise your bottleneck is ~960mbs Or is it all wireless backhaul? Did you confirm its 160mhz?

Ironic when the thread is about how I solved my problem no?

Found a way to make AImesh nodes to have different channels!

Spend money because something is may go wrong later? Seems moronic. If an issue arrises it would make more sense to purchase the latest tech at the time.

Found a way to make AImesh nodes to have different channels!

Really no need when everything is working great. Why throw money at a solved problem.

Found a way to make AImesh nodes to have different channels!

Yep no issues and using pfsense as the DHCP server gives proper client ID names as well which never works properly with the asus dhcp

Found a way to make AImesh nodes to have different channels!

I explained why one would want AImesh. I explained why one would want different 2.4ghz channels. I am offering a solution to someone who may be in the boat. Thanks for your criticism regardless :)

Found a way to make AImesh nodes to have different channels!

Good question! The answer is single pane view of all clients including wireless info. With ap only mode any wireless clients are wired in the eyes of the main router. Also renaming and ui management tasks only need to be done once instead of per AP. This is pretty much the sole reason.

replacing aimesh node. which one to pick

I have a ax86u with 5 xd4 which work really well on wired backhaul. Since 86u does not have second 5ghz xd4 is perfect as it handles 160mhz which is more than enough for my Comcast 1400/35 plan. So from any AP I get full speed on 5ghz .

Found a way to make AImesh nodes to have different channels!

I mean dont undersell the accomplishment now. I would argue it’s the first of its kind. 5ghz channels do not suffer from overlap that much because of their short distance. Homes like mine which have over 200 smart devices for bulbs, switches, plugs start to have issues sitting on one single...
