Getting drops sporadically on RT-AX86u wired.

I bought my AX86U about 2 weeks ago and after two days the router lost connection to the internet but home network stayed active. Wife and kids were not happy! I have done a tonne of research and tried lots of suggestions. After trial and error, thanks to SNBForums, I am now stable on ASUS stock...

Tutorial How to automatically run a script on asus routers that monitors your WAN link - will reboot the router if WAN is down. (from POV of a non linux guy)

A caveat before I start in that I should have posted my question and used the power of the community to source the answer - my bad. Being a newbie I asked the question directly and was tapped on the wrist and alerted to the protocol - a learning moment. Now with that out of the way, I asked...

Need a script that auto reboot if internet is down

In the instructions posted by @Carme the suggestion was to use the following to load the command in nvram to force the script to restart at next reboot: nvram set script_usbmount="/jffs/ChkWAN.sh"

Tutorial How to automatically run a script on asus routers that monitors your WAN link - will reboot the router if WAN is down. (from POV of a non linux guy)

Thanks. Brought by AC66U back online and used WinSCP to transfer the file over to the USB plugged into it. Unmounted and plugged it into my AX86U and then cp the file from USB stick /mnt/JFFS to /JFFS

Tutorial How to automatically run a script on asus routers that monitors your WAN link - will reboot the router if WAN is down. (from POV of a non linux guy)

Any idea why this keep failing? Is being executed in Windows from Putty as an Administrator exactly as the instructions above. Even downloaded WinWCP and still no luck. C:\tmp>pscp -P 1055 -scp c:\tmp\ChkWAN.sh Admin@router.asus.com:/jffs/ChkWAN.sh Admin@router.asus.com's password: sh: scp: not...

    AX86u disconnect

UPDATE: "Continuous" does not work as I had another drop - will try "Normal". The frequency of drops is directly related to the DHCP lease expiry that is hardcoded by the FW to occur every 2 days. I have since found a script that can query out and force a lease renewal and barring that a reboot...

ax86u disconnect from clients, but internet still up

I fixed this by using these WAN settings: "DHCP query frequency" -> "Continuous"

    AX86u disconnect

Issue may be long resolved but simple thing to try under WAN is to set DHCP query frequency to continuous. I have found through reading online that even though internet connection may remain stable the connectivity on the network can drop as the ISP does not like "agressive mode". Yesterday...

    Asus RT-AX86U connection timeouts

I have the same logs on my new (3 days ago) AX86U and this beast worked like a charm for 3 days and then random drops a few times a day yesterday. Did some research and found the setting the under WAN called "DHCP query frequency" - I have set it to Continuous. 15 hours later still no...

    RT N66U Client list bug?

I was able to resolve the issues by doing a power off/power on instead of a reboot. Must be something with the power off that clears the cache/memory that does not get done as part of a reboot. Hope that works for you.

Problems with 380.62 - No parental Control, Network Map Devices

Disappointed in myself for not thinking about that first! Thanks for the suggestion of the 5 minute power off/on as it worked and everything is operational again.

Problems with 380.62 - No parental Control, Network Map Devices

I have a RT-AC66U router and just recently upgraded to 380.62. I have no way now of seeing what devices are on my network through "View List" for the network map and my parental controls screen does not show the devices I set up or a list of devices to choose from. For OpenVPN and DNS Filter I...
