    Padavan's Custom Firmware

Preventing access between Guest and main SSID can be done by simply checking the "AP isolation" box. I'm not sure if Padavan's allows different LAN segment per SSID. In DD WRT/Tomato we just have to select which iface is bridged to certain iface, not seeing that option in Padavan's.

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

I wonder if this move of Asus is based on technical reason (easier just to leave the GUI element there for all model) or simply for marketing reason?

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

Update: reflashed to stock FW. Done some speed test, turns out my AC51U can reach 90Mbps just fine with stock FW. Something in Padavan capped the downlink to 82 Mbps, but okay doesn't matter too much to me.

    Asus RT-AC51U Throughput?

Update: reflashed to stock FW. Done some speed test, turns out my AC51U can reach 90Mbps just fine within ideal condition+stock FW. Something in Padavan capped the downlink to 82 Mbps, but okay doesn't matter too much to me.

N66U on Repeater Mode Very High Latency

Maybe try wired solution, so Basement router <--cable--> RT 66U <--cable--> RT 56U or Basement router <--cable--> RT 66U |--------------------<--cable--> RT 56U

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

Unfortunately I only have Laptop with me that doesn't fall into "hand-held" category. Anyhow seeing from 3 different clients it's apparent there is consistent speed cap of some sort on with downlink.I just tried my other phone (wireless AC too).. and same speed cap.o_O

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

Wireless-AC phone (433mbps link speed) is giving similar speed cap too, and.. this is from tablet with 2x2 antenna (300 mbps link) Seems the downlink cap is put on place on 82 mbps for some reason regardless of client. :/

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

Normally I work around 4-5m from router (in the same room, no obstruction), so I just tried it the result is the same, at 6 meter the speed even decreases. Results at 4 m, clear direct sight The first device is my phone, the second device is laptop, 4 meter away from router, direct sight no...

    Asus RT-AC51U Throughput?

Hmm yeah should have written this in the first post, but the standard procedure is done, but I'll elaborate for clarity. 1. There are literally two 5 GHz AP near me, both of them in channel 112, I'm using channel 40. The 2.4 Ghz is crowded but I make sure to move my 2.4 GHz to least occupied...

    Asus RT-AC51U Throughput?

Thanks for the reply. Like I said I tested this on very short range, so interference from other AP/client are mostly out of the equations (my AP signals would always be higher, RSSI around -31 dbm). Most of your assessment is correct except AC51U only have 1x1 5Ghz antennae, so in 5Ghz N mode...

    Asus RT-AC51U Throughput?

Hi AC51U owner, what kind of wireless throughput are you getting from this router? I have 100Mbit/s WAN but when I tested the router with with Intel 7260N 2x2 (300 Mbps link speed) Laptop, the downlink throughput is capped at 82 Mbit/s, strangely uplink reaches 98 Mbit/s just fine. . Same goes...

    Padavan's Custom Firmware

Hi guys, what kind of speed should we expect for Wireless N speed with Padavan build? I have Asus RT AC51U running Padavan's build nicely. I have 100Mbit/s WAN but when tested with Intel 7260N 2x2 Laptop downlink throughput is capped at 82 Mbit/s, strangely uplink reaches 98 Mbiit/s just fine...
