    RT-AC68U and Merlin Advice

Just so we are clear, the SPA does not have internet, but a proprietary interface to which their "G" 2.4 Ghz device connects. I have a wired house with a port about 15 feet from the SPA "G" device. So the bridge or whatever it's called (access point?)would convert wired ethernet to "G" only for...

    RT-AC68U and Merlin Advice

I wish I could! Unfortunately, it's an interface into a proprietary device(SPA) and won't work on "N". Was an expensive POS. If I can get enough range on the 5 Ghz, I'll put everything else on 5 Ghz and use the old router as a 2.4 Ghz bridge. Thanks for all your reply.

Confused about the 68U and 68P in router ranker

There were some testing differences in range in one of the "retests", I think, with the "original" 800 Mhz "U" router doing slightly better than the 1 GHz "P" router. But I think they all are coming with the 1 GHz processor now, at least in the US. But one has to wonder if some of the subtle...

    RT-AC68U and Merlin Advice

I am considering getting an Asus router. The big reason many people seem to gravitate to Asus is the Merlin firmware, which is why I am here rather than the "What Router to Buy" forum. My primary criteria is range and reliability. But I'm also interested in other features. Don't want to be...

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

You are right on the first part (white). However, the place I've seen this router is Amazon - the version questions asked of users always come back B1 and 1 GHz. So I assume it is like the U 1GHz model. The f/w downloads are the same, as they should be.

And there is also the "W" suffix, which appears to be the B1 version.

How To Buy A Wireless Router - 2017 Edition

Having poured through rankings for AC1750 and AC1900 routers, it appears distance (see 2.4 and 5 GHz graphs bw vs signal strength) is a key differentiator. I believe the author recommends AC1900 for larger houses for that reason. I doubt you'd see much other difference in practice.
