New to MOCA watched several 'Alliance' Videos, have many questions

The MoCA videos are overly cautious about the requirements. All cable companies install a POE filter at your home. Unless you have an extremely large home, the odds are above 80% that you can deploy MoCA without any hiccups. Be on the lookout for old satellite installations and wires that are...

Looking to add a NAS to our network and have some questions

Just so you're aware NAS4Free is not DLNA certified. That is why DLNA device don't see it.

Looking to add a NAS to our network and have some questions

    1. Do we need a new router to get efficient use from the NAS? We are currently running from the router issued by our ISP. We can stream video and audio from the web without any hiccups, but wonder if it will be sufficient with the NAS. I am not terribly worried about over-the-net transfer...

ecb6200 MOCA Breaks Network, PLEASE HELP!

It sound's like you are creating a MoCA loop by accident. What model of TiVo do you own?

DNLA Stream Hangs from PC to TV

Sorry for my ambiguity. My reference to "bandwidth" was directed at your network's internal bandwidth, and not your bandwidth "to the door."

Alexa Skills Come To Linksys Routers

I have a lot of questions about the viability of Alexa for hardware. Networking equipment specifically gives me doubts about how much manufacturers know about the average SOHO configuration. Most of Alexa customers base probably has very little understanding of wireless networking, as they are...

DNLA Stream Hangs from PC to TV

Your problem is most likely a bandwidth issue. DVD streaming is done with significantly smaller video files, resolutions, and at a lower bitrate. To test this, try temporarily running an ethernet cable directly to the TV and see if that fixes the problem.

Repeater Bridge with Dedicated Backhaul (like Netgear Orbi Satellite)

The feature you're looking for is WDS (wireless distribution system). It's listed on any access point that can do the same thing as an Orbi. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_distribution_system

Repeater Bridge with Dedicated Backhaul (like Netgear Orbi Satellite)

The Orbi system actually creates a hybrid network. It's clever marketing that makes it seem like it's something unique, but it's not at all. The mesh network only applies to the way access points communicate with each other. Each repeater uses the third band (essentially rendering the consumer...

    MoCA 1.1 & 2.0bonded - co-exist?

Yes, it works in practice. To test it you have to make sure you are connected to the 2.0 devices...

    Xbox Game storage on NAS

Xbox supports full HDDs for use, I have a 300GB attached to mine. The NAS is only available for DLNA media sharing. There is not need to backup the drive because you can always re-download the content. If you really want to fix your problem, upgrade the HDD in your Xbox, it's not that hard.

New to NAS and wondering if it will meet my needs

Pretty much any decent NAS will do what you need.

Need help managing bandwidth through powerline adapter

I'm not saying it's not possible. You don't even need a separate device to do it. You just have to splice ethernet into phone lines, it's an old trick AT&T installers use. I was just making a funny installation reference... You're bandwidth is limited in this kind of installation, just so you're...

    MoCA 1.1 & 2.0bonded - co-exist?

I read the white papers, it's right on the alliance website. Point 2... Backward Interoperability Assured MoCA 2.0 nodes interoperate with 1.1 nodes on the same network. MoCA 2.0 capable nodes communicate in MoCA 2.0 mode when talking to MoCA 2.0 devices even when legacy devices are present in...

Repeater Bridge with Dedicated Backhaul (like Netgear Orbi Satellite)

Actually, it has been done already...a lot. Netgear already makes the equipment to perform the type of setup you are talking about. Orbi is being sold because the configuration you're referencing is too complex for the average user. It would take a networking profession to configure the devices...

    MoCA 1.1 & 2.0bonded - co-exist?

The adapters will run at their designated speeds. It the throughput of each ethernet port attached to the adapters is independent.
