    It's strange that it worked for a while and then stopped, but I still think you are correct. I didn't realize that flashing Merlin would leave anything behind from the stock AsusWRT, but if the NVRAM held settings that conflicted with Merlin, I guess that would be bad. I will do that. Thank you.

    I did reboot the router (as I stated in the OP), but I did not reset to factory after installing Merlin. I had not made any changes in the ASUS firmware however. I just connected and installed. Thanks.
