Info about how to choose a model

You wrote that they all have the same processor, now you gave more specs.

Info about how to choose a model

So that confirm my ideas, using same CPU means that performances differences are given by software optimization and/or feature reduction. And so, AX89X should be faster of GT-AX6000 or AX88U because his cpu is running at 10% faster frequency

Info about how to choose a model

Broadcom has a lot of processors, performances are needed. There can be a processor more efficient that outperforms another running at higher frequency. In the asus specs aren't listed exactly processor's models.

Info about how to choose a model

For sure ROG is their magnetic brand name to increase customers. But I see that even this router uses a quad core 2,0Ghz. Hard to say if is the same of the 88U_PRO. The AX89X for example uses a 2,2Ghz quad core, but even in that case is hard to say if it is a pumped old gen processor that...

Info about how to choose a model

As i said, if they share almost the same hw architecture, performance can be affected essentially from thickness of the software stack running. So as many as the features, as slow as the performances will be. I think a ROG device as a tight software stack focused on minimum latency. I don't...

Info about how to choose a model

Thanks all for suggestions, for sure I agree with L&LD its a battle that never ends. Thanks also to Piotrek, it wasn't so easy for me to find the 86U/88U in pro version, but your links does the work, my fault. Fortunately, buying a new router to configure same as the old one offers you a really...

Info about how to choose a model

I always refer to the pro version of 86U and 88U even if is hard to find them into eshops. I don't know when they were announced but maybe they are really new so the reason for which they are hard to find. For sure, 86S/86U/86U_PRO etc its not a good naming choice in my opinion.

Info about how to choose a model

Its an interesting point of view. The dual 2,5 can be achieved with an AX88U. And ad i wrote in previous posts, I saw that Asus seems to use generally the same hw architecture (2,0Ghz quad core 1Gb ram) adding more or less wireless or wired chipsets to cover different needings. If so, it would...

Info about how to choose a model

Really curious about IOT WiFi, being concerned on security aspects, I'm worried about IOTs, even trying to buy good brands, the possibility that one or more of them are prone to be hacked allowing horizontal movement into my network is something that I was always thinking on about. With my AC88...

Info about how to choose a model

Understood, so the GT-AX6000 is a ROG router. Can I ask why its better than AX86U, or AX88U (both PRO version) for example? Even parental controls should be needed in the future, I don't see them listed into ROG features. I suspect ROG Router is keept as light as possible in terms of software...

Info about how to choose a model

Looking at the specs there are many model classified as AX6000. Looking to the Italy site I see: - AX88U standard & PRO - TUF Gaming AX6000 - ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 - RT-AX89X They have also very different prices. Which one do you refer to exactly? I see that there are version PRO and "non PRO"...

Info about how to choose a model

Hello All, I have a 6 Years old AC88U that is starting to show frequent wifi problems (disconnections, poor performances) even if always updated and cooled by seating over a 200mm noctua fan (with reduced power). Maybe the raising number of devices (>40 with tablet, pc, iot, kitchen devices etc)...

OpenVPN stop working spontaneously on RT-AC88U with 386.2_4 (but already with older releases)

I also thought that the failed function can be a results of some tipe of attack. Perhaps, looking at how long it takes to stop and how this happen almost exactly into certain time interval, I changed idea thinking that it is some sort of unfixed software malfunction. Also because there are...

OpenVPN stop working spontaneously on RT-AC88U with 386.2_4 (but already with older releases)

Any suggestion yet? Just to add some data, after coming home I tried connection from smaprtphone and absolutely no log was added to syslog.log (on jffs or on /etc) with (wireless turned off to use cellular, so external, or even from internal. So I upgraded to 386.3, and after reboot, still...

OpenVPN stop working spontaneously on RT-AC88U with 386.2_4 (but already with older releases)

Hello Everyone, I'm in trouble with my router having the problem listed in object. I've configured an openvpn server for SSL connection and it works for some weeks (2, max 3 it seems), then it stops accepting connections. The client hangs trying connection but doesn't establish it. This is an...

Static NAT configuration on Asus Merlin

Thanks all. After some hours of reading I finally found an IPTABLES configuration that works and is the following: iptables -t nat -A INPUT -s <translated destination ip> -j SNAT --to-source=<original destination ip> iptables -t nat -A OUTPUT -d <original destination ip> -j DNAT...

Static NAT configuration on Asus Merlin

Thanks for prompt reply, no chance even with iptables? I'm running skynet and even I configured iptables to block some home ip cameras to do whatever they want. But as wrote above, I really don't know iptables.

Static NAT configuration on Asus Merlin

Hello all, For web development purposes I need to configure 4 static nat on my asus RT-AC88U. I din't find any menu about that and I'm only use to Cisco/Juniper/Check Point devices to do that and really not so much skilled on linux environment. To be more explicative, I must configure...

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

I also got that error and had to dig a bit to understand that the message was due to the fact that my V5 installation was without swap file. Should be nice to add a specific warning and also to check the presence of swap file prior to run the automatic upgrade eventually stopping it. I don't use...
