So guessing the fine folks at Asus have forgotten about us? Figured we'd have seen some new firmware by now giving us back the 2nd 5Ghz radio. Guess I need to put in these Nokia beacons I have sitting here to see if they are worth a darn or if I just need to bite the bullet and go bigger/ better.

Amen. Been waiting for them to update the firmware and fix for 2 months now. Have some Nokia nodes coming soon to test out. From a test report from Tolly, looks very promising! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Was using another laptop I had. 1st one was a work laptop that was newer and NIC would support the speeds, but only got 600-700mbps. Personal got 900mbps or so. But yours is obviously good if getting those speeds bypassing the router. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Assume you have a 1Gbps connection? Is the NIC capable? Know I had a laptop that should’ve been, but could never get full speeds. Finally tried another one, and was able to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have never seen the TX power adjustment option on any firmware I've had on the 2 I have here in the US.

Thanks George. Guess I can see if this gets better with a little more time (firmware updates).

Has anyone gone mesh (either Velop or Orbi)? Seriously considering selling one of these and just using the other as a router only and something else for access points. Want a better roaming experience, especially for VoWiFi since I work from home and sometimes pace around.

    AiMesh for Tri-band routers: RT-AC5300, GT-AC5300

I have that setup. Works fine...wouldn't let max speeds be your deciding factor as you won't ever see those speeds anyway. Fastest I get wirelessly is about 400-450 Mbps on any of my devices. Have actually considered using the GT-AC5300 as my router and Orbi as my APs.

Was referring to the GPL, which wasn't released the same day as the software.

Looks like .648 is up http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/GT-AC5300/GPL_GT_AC5300_300438420648.zip?_ga=2.256127307.1359433727.1524165197-862146417.1511187457

You did do a factory reset and set it up again "fresh"? Know I read somewhere it can take 2-3 to clear everything out of NVRAM, but not sure how true that is. Know I was having some issues and did this and seemed to clear everything up.

What base were you using? See the .308 up, but was hoping .648 would be up soon.

Just ran mine and seeing respectable 37ms on DL and 507ms on UL for comparison. Running .648 (didn't factory reset after last upgrade) in AP mode.

Noticed if you go to Driver & Tools and use "other" for OS, they have the .20308 GPL for download. Seems most everywhere else it's much older 382 based firmware. FYI for anyone looking (only found trying to see if .20648 was posted anywhere yet).

Like doing manual upgrades and not seeing it available yet on US or UK servers yet.

AiMesh - Phone keeps disconnecting but not other devices

Have had similar issues at times...likely need to disable or change roaming assist (RA) settings under the wireless professional tab. Think I personally have 2.4 set to -70, 5-1 set to -60, and 5-2 set to -70, but all about your layout and such. That's what worked best for me for now (until I...

    ASUS Router Advice

Guessing you likely don't need a tri-band, so would look into either of the AC2900 class routers as they seem to offer good performance/ hardware specs and seem to be well supported on the firmware side as well (RT-86U also has firmware from Merlin I believe) from Asus, so more stable/ frequent...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Yes, generally the AC5300 (RT and GT) have been the last to get updates. Prior to AIMesh, they'd seen only a few updates. Just glad we're finally starting to realize their full potential.

Anyone put one of these in an unconditioned space? Thinking about moving my node once I set it back up to some attic space. Will just have to run some cat6 I have sitting in the garage. It’s a 2nd floor walk out attic space and has radiant barrier, so shouldn’t be too terribly bad temp wise...
