    Buffalo Linkstation internals?

That's great to know. Thank you!

    Buffalo Linkstation internals?

I have not been able to get ssh access to the device, so I was limited to single commands via ACP commander GUI. One of the files was clean, so I deleted the others and copied the good one into each of the other required files. If that hadn't worked, I had other workarounds in mind... but it...

    Buffalo Linkstation internals?

SOLVED If anyone finds this thread in the future, know the issue was solved by replacing the files /etc/melco/backup1, backup2... backup8 with unmolested copies from a firmware install image. Apparently the internal processes cannot recover if any of these files is corrupted or missing. The...

Compare and contrast Synology 220+ vs 218play vs QNAP TS-233-US

Everything on site = zero backup. I have a working, multiply-redundant, geographically diverse strategy that doesn't require paying a provider. I'm just interested to find out about comparative NAS features and ease of use.

Compare and contrast Synology 220+ vs 218play vs QNAP TS-233-US

How about ease of remote backup to another NAS (or cloud storage provider?)

Compare and contrast Synology 220+ vs 218play vs QNAP TS-233-US

Looking for current advice and experience with the above devices. The units are somewhat similarly priced and look comparable on the surface. My requirements are pretty straightforward: RAID1 with 2× 4TB drives Flexible, functional DLNA server to feed flac and other to H.T. receiver and other...

    Buffalo Linkstation internals?

Buffalo locks out ssh. Unlock tools exist but don't work with current firmware. I'm limited to one command at a time, with limits to character return. I can export files and have "ls -l" until my fingers fall off, but still haven't cracked it. Would be helpful if I understood python instead...

    Buffalo Linkstation internals?

That's the problem in a nutshell: I have no idea where the profiles are stored, or how. There seems to be zero documentation and nearly zero forum discussion. I haven't been able to find any mention of reverse-hacks to understand the internal structure. Anyone? Bueller?

    Buffalo Linkstation internals?

Yes. Any effort to manipulate backup jobs results in the same message, with different triggers, example Error: unable to get backup job. Error: add backup job it's as if where backup jobs are stored is inaccessible. I can't figure out where this is, though. if isinstance(method...

    Buffalo Linkstation internals?

Thanks, Tech Junky. The ironic thing is that the data on the RAID array appears to be intact, and all other functions in the system (GUI, DLNA server, FTP server, SMB shares, etc.) seem to be working properly. It's only the NAS-to-NAS backup that's b0rked. The unit is updated to the latest...

    Buffalo Linkstation internals?

My linkstation 420 backups have stopped working; trying to access configuration throws an error "Error: get backup task job. A system error has occurred. Reboot linkstation and try again." Rebooting does nothing. This happened after a power failure; I expect some internal file is corrupted...

Buffalo LS220D Hybrid backup to Google Cloud Platform

Linkstation does not have an obvious way of supporting native cloud backup. The best I've found is that linkstation will back up volumes to another linkstation. I'm lucky to have another LS220 in a different location, and a VPN between the two, so that does the job. It looks like it's...

Slow rsync over Asus Merlin VPN

I have a pair of Buffalo Linkstations, one in California, one in Alabama. Each is connected via gigabit Ethernet to an Asus router with Merlin WRT software. I've created an OpenVPN link between the routers and devices on one subnet can reach devices on the other. So far, so good. When I use...

Client List Bug? AC87U shows 5G as wired

In my AC87U, running 384.7_2, the Network Map --> View List --> Client List page shows all 5G-connected devices as being wired. Is this a known issue? I am pretty sure this worked in one of the previous versions, but I can't tell when it stopped. Also, Adaptive QoS page bandwidth monitor...

Merlin upgrade 380.69 to 384.5 - lose remote connection?

Understood. The question is, if I rebuild the VPN configuration as it was before the reset, will the remote still connect, or will a new OpenVPN config have to be exported and loaded on the remote device?

Merlin upgrade 380.69 to 384.5 - lose remote connection?

I currently run an OpenVPN between two ASUS routers (AC87U and AC68U) both on Merlin 380.69. If I update one end to 384.5 or .6, do a default reset as Merlin suggests, then reconfigure the VPN as it was, will the remote still connect, or will the default reset cause a change of cypher/key/etc...

ASUS Router to Router OpenVPN - need routing assistance - RESOLVED

Thanks to assistance from member Martineau, the setup now works as I need. Details here, if it helps anyone in the future: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/openvpn-client-server-reverse-routing-relationship.43189/#post-369871

OpenVPN client/server - reverse routing relationship?

Holy poo, it's working! It seems the "allowed clients" info gets lost any time you restart the server. For some reason, it's not persistent. I discovered it was missing, readded it, and can now ping the remote site. My server rsync is running now. It even works after I implement my routing...
