Access Restriction / MAC Filtering on Guest Wireless

I've been waiting for the Guest network MAC filtering feature for quite a while and Asus support (Jeremy) confirmed that they were definitely going to add it to the firmware. Apparently it's still not there. MAC filtering works fine on primary networks. Why is it so hard to add it to the Guest...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.246.19 is out

Hi Merlin, Could you please clarify the following changelog item: FIXED: Removed MAC Filter page, as it doesn't work (not compatible with Parental Control). Does it mean you completely removed the MAC Filtering feature? I am on Asus firmware and the problem I had was that MAC...

Asuswrt-Merlin - custom build of the Asus RT-N66U firmware

    1. I don't know if Guest MAC Filtering worked with older versions, I only tried it on 155. 2. Very strange... I was using this MAC in the MAC Filter of my old Netgear router and it worked fine. My printer has both LAN and WLAN interfaces, and I just noticed that with MAC Filter disabled and...

Hi Merlin, Thanks for all your great work! Is there any way you could look into the following MAC Filtering issues? 1. MAC Filter does not seem to apply to Guest Networks 2. I am unable to add MAC address of my printer (22:E3:1F:1D:0E:28) to the MAC Filter List. The error message says: "It's...

Slow Homeplug - Five Ways To Boost Powerline Network Speed

OK. Then I guess either model is fine as I am not planning to plug any noise generators into it. Tim. Are you planning to do a comparison of Netgear XAVB5001/5501 and Trendnet TPL-401E2K 500Mbps adapters any time soon? It would be interesting to know how they compare to Netgear's WNHDB3004...

Slow Homeplug - Five Ways To Boost Powerline Network Speed

Thanks, Tim. Interesting... I did not realize that the noise only matters at the receiver. Sounds like the built-in filter cleans the noise coming from both devices plugged into the powerline adapter and the ones along the way. This feature makes it a "better" choice in my book. ;-)

Slow Homeplug - Five Ways To Boost Powerline Network Speed

Tim, I understand that if the noisy device is plugged into the filtered outlet of the powerline adapter itselft the filter helps to keep the noise down and hence improves the bandwidth but there could plenty of noise generating devices (not plugged into the adapters) along the way between the...
