Help me get this right... 10GbE connection

Honestly - I believe what you presented on your drawing would not work: it is using iMac and NAS as switches.... I do not think each of them can perform such a function.

Help me get this right... 10GbE connection

What if you put one more small 10 GBe switch where your router and iMac are? Connect both (router and iMac) to the switch and connect switch to the wall socket). Second switch on the other end. You could use something like netgear gs110emx switch. Two muliti gig ports and eight 1 gig ports. On...

Help me get this right... 10GbE connection

If I understood well: Currently you have iMac and NAS (via switch) connected to your router using Cat 6. You want: additional 10 Gbe link directly between NAS and iMac only? So you'd need extra cable between NAS and iMac?

    [R7800] problems since fiber

I wonder if it is R7800 problem or ONT problem. Can you check what happens when you set WAN connection manualy (IP, gateway, subnet)? The way to check if this is ONT, eould be connecting PC/laptop directly to ONT and monitor what happens (like pinging ONT.for 10 minutes).

    Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine SE

Indeed they seem to be focusing on Unifi, but the have been struggling to deliver working hardware/firmware. Ubiquiti changed OS - beginnig from UDM, and it opened can of worms.... even basic functionalities were missing (static IP o the WAN side is one example), memory leaks freezing UDM(P)s...

    Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine SE

Buggy firmware has been deal breaker for me in regards to Ubiquiti hardware since USG-8XG. UI forum is flooded with complaints regarding UDM and UDM-Pro. UDM has been on the market for a while and ui seems to be not able to fix several bugs.

Connection uptime, Voxel firmware for Nighthawk(R) X4S R7800

Do not have screenshots - as I had few power cuts, but have been running R7800 continously since Voxel's .72 till recently. I got FTTH and decided to update FW .78 and use R7800 as AP. R7800 is really good router regarding HW. That is one part, the other - more important is what Voxel has been...

New router to replace Netgear R7000

I had Asus 86u, Synology 2600 and Netgear R7800. If you are not planning to become early AX routers beta-tester, then I would suggest Netgear R7800 + Voxel firmware. This combination has been rock solid for me.

Finally wired my house, now looking for equipment...

It was you, posting in another thread who made me look into SMB Cisco for home.. I wonder what advantages running layer 3 would give me at home ? I will have a look into RV-345. Can it route 900/280?

Finally wired my house, now looking for equipment...

Quite basic home network: 2 PC, 2 laptops, several smartphonesf, few tablets, few TVs etc House is wired with cat 6 - 13 lines meeting in a basement with ISPs ONT in a rack. ISP gives 900 mbps down and 280 up. Amateur wifi survey indicates that I'll need 3 APs to cover 3 storeys, brick and...

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.73SF

Voxel - thank you very much for your outstanding work! I originally wanted to wish you a Merry Christmass - but I think this should be in two weeks?

Is anybody interested in 8+2 10GbE switch?

If by 8+2 you mean 8x 100/1000 + 2x 10gbe, then ASUS has been making such a switch 10p XG-U2008 for some time.

WiFi router or AP and switch

No sure if I understood well - did you mean you don't have available ethernet ports on ISP modem, or it does not have any? Could you for test switch Asus to AP mode, connect it to ISP modem and place it in planned location (behind TV) - it will give you good idea about wifi coverage from this...

Router selection advice; R7800, RT-AC86U, Synology

I'd like to have access from outside to cameras in apartment....

Router selection advice; R7800, RT-AC86U, Synology

Out of the two I'd go with R7800 + Voxel Firmware.

Router selection advice; R7800, RT-AC86U, Synology

My wrong - I got it wrong, and was under impression that one needs to buy license to run RV-340 at all. As switches and router are fanless - that would fit me perfectly. Would I need to buy license to run VPN connection on RV?

Router selection advice; R7800, RT-AC86U, Synology

Sound like perfect solution to my needs - wish Cisco hasn't started charging monthly fees for use of small business units like RV340, SG300 etc... Maybe buying used ones (with old pre-monthly fees firmwares) would be a solution.

Router selection advice; R7800, RT-AC86U, Synology

I agree. I was looking into Ubiquiti - but scrolling through their forums gives impression that firmware/software is being released uncooked. Seems like to many problems for me. In small apartment (55m2 - or 600 sq ft) I have 18 Cat 6 outlets (do not ask - I have over shot a bit), including one...
