Here's an earlier post in the thread "did you try to clear NVRAM via miniCFE? just keep reset (not WPS) button on and power up router after 5-10s reset off and use Firefox to log to miniCFE 192.168.1.1 From miniCFE you can clear NVRAM and load soft one more time. not sure why but for same AC56U...

You may have to use a serial TTL cable to write back the cfe. This Link might help.

"8. In Putty type: chmod u+x mtd-write" It says "mtd-write" not "mtd-erase2" I'm not sure how you would go about recovering it

    Linksys LGS116P Bilnking Blue Light

In case someone is interested it wasn't a problem with the switch instead the power supply was bad.

    Linksys LGS116P Bilnking Blue Light

I have a LGS116P switch that has a blinking blue light and nothing else. Does anyone have a firmware or advice to try and get this up and running? The switch looks to have a 4 pin header installed and two other unpopulated 4 pin spots for more headers. First unpopulated header has [CLK GND DAT...

No progress, I tried some things a couple years ago with no luck and haven't tried since. It's good to know theses routers still have life and people are still using them.

What cfe version are you using? There are multiple versions and I'm using 1.0.2.0.

You are correct that is what you need to do

It would not take my 56U cfe when I tried but that was a long time ago. Try it and see. Yes you can brick the router. If you want the usb to work then you need a cfe from a 68u and if you have a cfe from a 68u you can put it through cfeditor and it will modify it with your secret code and mac...

Yes, you can use the cfeditor if you have a 68U cfe and there are no changes to Lan/Wan ports, everything is the same. lan1=wan

    Aimesh on RT-AC56U

To use USB you need to use an AC68U cfe not the AC56U cfe, it is discussed earlier in the thread.

    Aimesh on RT-AC56U

It's against the rules to do that.

There have been times when I thought I bricked mine and it always came back to life with repeated reboots and general fiddling with it. Just to make sure, are you using the correct lan ports as stated in my last post? Have you tried booting up and just let it sit for a while and then try to connect?

Just looked at mine and the only light lit is the power light. Make sure you are using LAN port 2,3,4 or the WAN port as LAN 1 is now the WAN.

Glad you got it sorted and when I get a chance I will update the guide.

Yes Aimesh works after swapping the cfe.

Currently I'm using Merlin 384.19 and my cfe is 1.0.2.0 from one of my 68u's, like in the op, but also with the mac address from the 56u and maybe that is why my USB works. I did that trying to make it as compatible as possible with Aimesh, which I currently do not use, I now adjust the roaming...
