RT-AX86U with latest version 3004.388.8_2 always crash and reboot

I'm running an ASUS RT-AX86U Pro on Merlin 3004.388.8. It was a clean firmware install of a new router at that time. ZERO issues whatsoever; it's been solid as can be. (I haven't bothered to update to 3004.388.8.2 since it was a very minor update that wouldn't affect me.)

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.8_2 is now available

Replaced my venerable old RT-AC68U with a brand spankin' new RT-AX86U Pro. Immediately loaded it up with RMerlin 3004.388.8. Everything up and running well with no apparent issues whatsoever. As always, thanks RMerlin!

Current plans regarding separate version branches

Sadly, I have no ISP options here that support more than what the AC68U supports. So I've been staying with that old but solid router since I bought it and haven't had any need to move of fit. I'm still amazed how stable it remains and so glad I bought it. EOL may be that need. Rmerlin, none...

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

I only bolded my text so as to distinguish it from copy/pasted text. No shouting intended. Sorry.

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

I went to install RTRMON via AMTM via the RT option. It responded with: RTRMON requires the Entware repository installed. Enter ep to install Entware now. So I entered EP and it found a compatible entware package on my attached USB drive: Select device to install Entware to 1...

RTRMON RTRMON v1.6.9 -May 3, 2024- Monitor your Router's Health (New: AMTM, Network Conn/Bandwidth/Diag + Port Scanner + Speedtest) [NEW THREAD OPENED]

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.11 is now available for AC models

I could not run 386.10 on my RT-AC68U, so I was happy staying at 386.9. However, I had been seeing some odd streaming (quick) disconnects lately on 386.9, which I was chalking up to my NVRAM being in the 63,xxx range. So, when I saw that RMerlin had released 386.11, I decided to try it. Dirty...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.9 is now available for AC models

Dirty update from 386.7.2 to 386.9. My NVRAM size is still way up there but it actually went *down* 35 bytes.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.9 beta is now available for AC models

I feel the same way about my venerable RT-AC68U router(s). Like the Energizer Bunny ads.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

I am continually amazed at how much c--p you put up with, yet you (Thank God!) continue to do an unbelievable amount of work in support of these ASUS modems. As a retired IT Developer I know how frustrating development and support can get at times. Please know that your efforts are not in vain...

ASUS router with Starlink - conflicting WAN IP

My understanding is that the Static Routes are needed to get to the Statistics.

ASUS router with Starlink - conflicting WAN IP

I'm not quite sure what you're asking so hopefully my answer is appropriate. There are two generations of Starlink equipment. Gen 1 has a round dish with a router than has an Ethernet port within it. In this scenario, one would be plugging the Ethernet cable directly from the Gen 1 SL router...

ASUS router with Starlink - conflicting WAN IP

The static routes are not needed for normal wifi activities. The static routes do allow you to get to the SL Stats. 192.168.100.1 => asus router LAN IP 192.168.100.24 => Assign an IP to your phone

ASUS router with Starlink - conflicting WAN IP

Yes, I did. And I can successfully get to the app. I think you'll find your coverage will be even better with the Router. SL's wifi coverage was decent but ASUS is better.

ASUS router with Starlink - conflicting WAN IP

Ok, early AM now. Attaching the SL in Bypass Mode and rebooting both the SL and ASUS router, seems to have worked. Now my ASUS network is happy and working away with the SL as the ISP. I can't believe Bypass mode could be enabled without an Ethernet device being plugged it. Wish I would have...

ASUS router with Starlink - conflicting WAN IP

Ok, so I was able to get the SL into Bypass mode - oddly it allowed me to do so when there was nothing attached to the Ethernet port. (Everything I've seen says to attach 1st). So I will see what happens in the early AM when I can grab the ASUS network.

ASUS router with Starlink - conflicting WAN IP

I can certainly plug my laptop into the Ethernet port and access 192.168.100.1. That brings up the SL app. But config changes are only allowed to be done via mobile - iOS or Android.

ASUS router with Starlink - conflicting WAN IP

That's what I'm trying to do. But until the SL senses a good connection to the Asus router via Ethernet, it doesn't allow the Bypass mode to be saved. The IP conflict is getting in the way.

ASUS router with Starlink - conflicting WAN IP

The conflict is with the 192.168.100.1 address. And I don't really care to change any (working) LAN ranges on my main ASUS router. I'm thinking what I might do is take my mesh AC68U and do a full Factory Reset on it. This will certainly lose any stored WAN IP's - and all other IP's of course...
