Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

Power cycling brought the Reboot Scheduler back to a working state (though I need't have bothered as an hour later a few short power cuts did the job all over again). Looking forward to 102_36957 - thanks @RMerlin

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

Did I just encounter a "well known bug" with scheduling in Administration? That would be a "bug" that I never encountered previously with RT-AC66U_B1 running 386.14.2 and scheduled to make the same nightly reboot, which worked reliably for many years.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

Reboot scheduler stopped performing the scheduled nightly reboot 3 days ago. It had been working reliably and rebooting each night for the past few weeks since installing 3006.102.4 No users are complaining about network access. Everything else seems to be working as before. I will power cycle...

    DNS Director or DNS WAN

I counted five areas of DNS settings around the WAN, LAN and Guest Network Pro sections. What would be the merits/demerits/results of the following DNS settings for LAN clients and guest clients?.. WAN DNS Server: set to Quad9, LAN DHCP Server -> DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2: left blank, LAN...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

Syslog question (I shouldn't have looked but I can't unsee it now...) around 1 in 3 reboots ends with around 20 lines of ..Serdes False Link Up with Error Symbol 0x04... messages like the first line here: Jan 1 00:01:05 kernel: Serdes 6 False Link Up with Error Symbol 0xf4 at 3.c466h at speed...

Thanks. Yet another good reason to use Asuswrt-merlin

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

It is possble to disagree and opt out of the privacy notice in Administration -> Policy tab. Disagreeing didn't break anything for me, as far as I can tell, despite the dire warnings that it may break features (that I don't need). Since I'm relying on Asuswrt-merlin for security updates and not...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

Question about syslog when booting. This writes over 1200 lines, of which several hundred look like progress counting: Jan 1 00:00:29 kernel: Loading firmware into detected PHYs: map=0x20000 count=1 Jan 1 00:00:29 kernel: Halt the PHYs processors operation Jan 1 00:00:29 kernel: Upload the...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

Thanks. I tried turning off RA. Clients clung on to bad signals even more with it turned off, so I turned it back on again. Clients then at least have the option to take the hint that the signal is not so good. I won't be dimming the power because, due to attenuation between rooms, some of my...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

@CaptainSTX in the Advanced Settings of a Customized Network in Guest Network Pro, , does the 'Manually Assigned IP around the DHCP list' allow you to assign static IP? I havent tried this but it looks editable

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

Hmm... reading here https://www.snbforums.com/threads/is-roaming-assistant-a-myth.60660/ it sounds like never worked well, and @RMerlin says it is outside of his control. But I do not understand why Android 15 would hold on to a crappy Wi-Fi signal from the router miles away when it has the...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

I noticed that router's roaming assitant didn't disconnect my phone when moving out of signal range. Enabled (by default, unchanged) to disconnect when 2.4GHz RSSI falls below -70dBm, but the phone is still connected at -83dBm. Meanwhile, much better 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks are available from...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 is now available

Release timing perfect for me for a fresh install on a new GT-AX6000. Installed head revision Asuswrt 3.0.0.6_102_34825 then installed Asuswrt-Merlin 3006_102.4_0. I much prefer the cool Asuwrt-Merlin webui to the pointlessly over-stimulating ROG interface - that's an immediate improvement from...

386.14_2 Hacked? 'Unrecoverable' Guest network issue

Since enabling DNS Director and changing GN passwords there has been no repeat of bad guest network Wi-Fi, and nothing untoward in the syslog. The guest clients that may have been involved in things going bad have had ample opportunity to repeat the trick. This suggests to me that if DNS...

Thanks @ColinTaylor. That is now set. The default log level is currently set to notice. Is that ok or do we need more detail such as info or debug?

386.14_2 Hacked? 'Unrecoverable' Guest network issue

Virginmedia. Since the last restore, there were no 'possible DNS rebind attack' events reported in the event log, though the malfunction had returned. Maybe the malfunction has nothing to do with that, but it does seem to relate to DNS, and to corruption of configuration settings. Before I...

386.14_2 Hacked? 'Unrecoverable' Guest network issue

I've been away for a few days leaving freshly restored RT-AC66U-B1 to get griefed again. 5GHz GN1 stopped working. LG WebOS TV could connect to the AP, but no DNS, so no digital networks. I turned on DNS director and set DNS to Quad9. This fixed the smart TV apps. Turning OFF DNS director...
