I just got any IoT devices thrown on the guest network to isolate. If you don't mind moving them there then i can't see any reason why not.

    New AX86U Settings

I see. For now I've changed 2.4Ghz to N only, disabled Universal Beamforming. on 5Ghz changed to 160Mhz channel 36, disabled Universal Beamforming but left the ac/ax beamforming enabled. Any idea what's the difference between different modulation scheme's?

I ended up picking the AX86U for 249$ from Amazon yesterday since no 6E routers were announced at sub 300$ mark pretty much from any brands.

    Upgrade to AX86U

The plan for now is wait for CES22 to see if there is any announces to release any new 6E routers and as the AX86U is pretty much out of stock everywhere that make it easier to wait a month or two. I know the option of getting a router that supports 6E sounds pretty reasonable as i have 3 main...

    Upgrade to AX86U

I have 2 Laptops and 1 PC with 6E cards and that's why I've been waiting for an 'affordable' not (500$+)6E router but at the moment there are maybe only 4-5 routers out there that support 6E and they expensive. For now at least from what i see is that companies pretty much ditched the 6E since...

AC86U Heat sink mod.... er hack

I hope you didn't put the copper shim directly on the cpu die and pad onto the shim, should first be pad and then the copper shim on top. regards the wifi chips, they are fine without copper, just put a thermal pad on them and it is enough.

    Router temperatures

The ones i used on the CPU pretty soft, I've got an Arctic Cooling Pads and they are harder. I'll try with 2.0mm first and if it will be too much, I'll switch to 1.5.

I used Thermalright Odyssey pads on the cpu mod i did, they are pretty soft from what i can tell.. softer than the Arctic Cooling pads.

I bought AC86U an year ago and noticed it was running on 100c+- constantly So i bought a cheap 5v usb fan and it was blowing air at the ack of the router and i could reduce the temps to about 80-85c. From seeing some people here bought an copper shim and used it with a thermal pad and got quite...

My AC86U got a temperature rise of 6-10c after connecting my NAS to it. I have a fan blowing air at the back, before i connected the NAS temperatures was 72-74c now they are 79-84c. Still better than 100c without the fan but yeah.. Gotta try that copper shim and thermalpad mod soon..
