Unbound Unbound DNS VPN Client w/policy rules

Perfect, just looking for the dnsmasq config file now. Any tips on how to find it? I am still new to linux, all I've tried is using "ls" to go through the different directors in jffs. I only found "dnsmasq.postconfig" and using cat for that did not pull up much. I already had a handful of sites...

Unbound Unbound DNS VPN Client w/policy rules

This might be the wrong place for this question but here it goes: I use the following example code to route certain addresses to WAN even though the device is using VPN via policy rules in the GUI: x3mRouting ALL 1 WAN_IP dnsmasq=whatismyip.com I found this is useful for banking, email, etc...

Unbound Internet (likely DNS?) drops randomly when OVPN is On

Putting this here with the Unbound tag since I think it may be a problem with Unbound or the settings I am using with Unbound and/or the OVPN client. With OVPN on and having my connected devices go over that VPN via policy rules, I've been having a problem lately where my internet connection...

Unbound Unbound DNS VPN Client w/policy rules

Thanks, will try running without for now. I think it's not working for me just due to a mistake somewhere (Imy ip tables output might be it). I'll revisit this in a few days to try again when my internet is not tied up for work purposes.

Unbound Unbound DNS VPN Client w/policy rules

I've been having issues with this script lately. It seems I have to run the manual "start" command a few times per day because I all of a sudden cannot load a website. When that happens, I run the start command and the page loads. What do I need to do to temporarily "disable" this script until...

Any Blue Iris (Security camera software) users here? Need help accessing over VPN server

Hopefully someone here has this setup working, but if not I can try to explain what I'm trying to accomplish and how Blue Iris works. I did several searches on the web for this issue but haven't pinpointed a solution yet. I normally access the IP camera feeds while connected to my home LAN. To...

Setting up VPN server - DDNS (DNS-Omatic) not working

I found a solution that is working but it's maybe not ideal. I can access the Blue Iris webUI over VPN but I have to uncheck "LAN only" option in the Blue Iris settings under User Settings. I'm not quite sure unchecking that box really opens up any security concerns since I don't have any ports...

Setting up VPN server - DDNS (DNS-Omatic) not working

I'll try that, thanks! May be a few days before i can get to it but I'll report back anyways in case this helps someone else

Setting up VPN server - DDNS (DNS-Omatic) not working

I see, I might have wrongly assumed what I'd be able to do once I get VPN server setup and connected to it. I thought when I would connect to the server, it would appear as if I was connected directly to the LAN and everything would work as such. I'll keep looking, I saw some more about this...

Setting up VPN server - DDNS (DNS-Omatic) not working

Cool, thanks for the help. I did that and can now connect to my router via VPN. However, the other apps I'd like to use still cannot connect. I think those apps require my phone's IP to look like 192.168.1.x, but it shows up as 10.8.0.2. Could that be the issue and is there a way to fix it? If...

Unbound Unbound DNS VPN Client w/policy rules

Sorry for the late response. It appears to be working now without the need to input the manual start code. I'm not sure what caused it to stop working before (I might have been going through reboots and was trying to set up a DDNS service which is around that time I kept losing unbound through...

Setting up VPN server - DDNS (DNS-Omatic) not working

Ah, got it now! The config file created by the router did not create the address for my domain with afraid.org correctly. I just had to edit the config file manually with the correct address and now I can connect. Now I have the next part to figure out... I might have wrongly assumed that once...

Setting up VPN server - DDNS (DNS-Omatic) not working

I made some further progress now. I appreciate the help thus far, but still not quite there yet. Here's where I am at: I successfully set up the DDNS using just one account (afraid.org). I chose the Let's Encrypt certificate, but it shows it is still authorizing (is this a problem, should I...

Setting up VPN server - DDNS (DNS-Omatic) not working

I ended up going with FreeDNS from afraid.org I think I set that up correctly and copy/pasted the key to the DNS-O-Matic add service page. However, it still shows "waiting for first update" under status. Meanwhile, I went through the rest of the steps to set up my VPN server. I tested this...

Unbound Unbound DNS VPN Client w/policy rules

I still have to run the manual start command (/jffs/scripts/unbound_via_vc1.sh start) often. Am I missing something?

Setting up VPN server - DDNS (DNS-Omatic) not working

The custom script worked. Now I'm on to the next part with yDNS. I signed up for an account, then started to add a host. The drop down choices for "Domain" has only one choice (ydns.eu) For "Name", I just chose something and got the green check mark so I assume that's okay, Then I put...

Setting up VPN server - DDNS (DNS-Omatic) not working

Using the Let's Encrypt certificate gives me the same result. I found an old post somewhere from another forum where some people had issues with DNS-O-Matic as well. One person fixed it by changing their password from using a special character to no special character. However, OPN DNS requres a...

Setting up VPN server - DDNS (DNS-Omatic) not working

I'm following x3mtek's guide (https://x3mtek.com/openvpn-server-setup-instructions-for-asuswrt-merlin/) to setup a VPN server. I made an account with DNS-omatic but am not able to get it registered in my WAN>DDNS GUI. After I enter my info and click apply, "DDNS Registration Result" reads...

Unbound Unbound DNS VPN Client w/policy rules

I didn't find the init-start file so I just tried doing your next step of manually starting the script. That did the trick! DNS leak test is now showing my VPN IP and the IP tables are now showing up. Thanks for helping a novice and creating this script! ETA: checked DNS leak test a few hours...
