    AC86u 2.4 dying or add-on issue?

I appreciate the feedback an your quick replies, thank you Colin. Going to keep an eye on things for the next week and hopefully the issue disappears. If not, I may return with some logs but I imagine I should question my ISP if that is the case. Also thank you to Tech9 for providing some...

    AC86u 2.4 dying or add-on issue?

You are correct. I can force it and the radios seem to work just fine. Thank you for the suggestion.:) Seems odd though, the properties around me are all large. Everyone sits on an acre or so and any other visible access points (3) have almost nonexistent signals of 85+ dBm from anywhere in my...

    AC86u 2.4 dying or add-on issue?

Noted. However, I noticed the link speed is also the same with the default setting of 20\40 which is where I now have it set.. It's been a while since I was wireless exclusively but I'm about 90% sure that I could get my link speed to 150Mbps with my old ac68u. Would having the same link speed...

    AC86u 2.4 dying or add-on issue?

Hello all, recently I seem to be having noticeable web browsing delay and what seem to be lag spikes or brief connection drops. I believe the 2.4 radios are possibly going out like so many other ac86u devices have. Upon poking around I noticed my 2.4 speed seemed to be capped in th 50Mbps range...

Agreed. It was just more of a realization so to speak. I just happened to come across the link reading through other posts. I can already see a DNS leak to my ISP when using Cloudflare. I believe this is called a transparent DNS proxy or I have a setting wrong. I don't see it when using my VPN...

Done and done. Everything is humming along just fine. Last night I read a piece about DoT leaking the domain in the certificate, Makes one wonder if there is even a point in using alternative settings outside of potential reliability \ uptime issues.

I do have one last question if you will. I believe this is considered a double NAT configuration from reading elsewhere (correct me if I'm wrong). The master router is set to Cloudflare DNS with DoT enabled. The router behind it WAN DNS settings point to the main router. Is this proper or...

    YazFi YazFi v4.x

Indeed, you are correct. Not sure how I missed it. Probably because I wasn't paying attention to guest 2. Everything is up and running perfectly. Thank you very much for spotting that. :)

    YazFi YazFi v4.x

Seems that I missed a step possibly? The only other thing out of the ordinary that I can think of would be what I did to setup the VPN client via the basic guide by the provider. https://support.nordvpn.com/Connectivity/Router/1047410642/AsusWRT-Merlin-setup-with-NordVPN.htm I'm not sure if...

    YazFi YazFi v4.x

Thank you for the reply. You can see remnants of my original attempt of guest 3 on 5G. That yielded the same error message so I deleted it and tried again on 2.4. Smart connect enabled (default) after the nuke. I though this might have something to do with it but haven't touched it yet.

Appreciate the assistance Tech9 I went ahead and made the changes. Now I'm having a little difficulty applying the proper YazFi setting so I posted over there.

    RT-AX86U Hardware Version

If I recall correctly one of the Arris cable modems used Puma and they were garbage from reviews I've read in the past. Anyhow thanks for the feedback.

    YazFi YazFi v4.x

Hello all. I’ve recently started working with some of the available addons for my AC86u but have run into a problem using YazFi for separate Wi-Fi vpn and standard guest networks. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Basically, I can’t apply any settings on the YazFi page no matter what...

    RT-AX86U Hardware Version

I thought so, seem to remember that from somewhere. Surely someone will refer to this at some point so out of curiosity... Any way to tell without opening up the device? I'm interested in buying one is the only reason I ask.

@RMerlin I understand these are newer devices. Historically speaking though, is there a preference between Broadcom vs Realtek?

Well that doesn't help! :p I hear you though. I wanted a project because I'm bored. I was hoping to sell some of the equipment and other crap to pay for upgrades. 150\10 is the slowest I've been in years I cut back the connection during COVID furlough time for budget reasons and haven't...

Again, my apologies if this is starting down a path not relevant to Asuswrt-Merlin anymore but I think it’s better to keep it all in one place. FWIW my connection is 150\10 and your diagram was perfect. For now, I’m definitely going to get YazFi going and get working on the other changes...

I’ll have to look into YazFi. A quick glimpse of the add-on page here on SNB tells me it will allow a SSID for VPN with its proper DNS settings and a regular SSID with standard DNS too. I think I interpreted it correctly at least. Are there more reasons that apply to me for using it? I know the...
