    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

Well just wanted to update, couldn't figure out the issue even with the help of Jack Yaz. Decided to go the whole smash. Wiped the JFFS partition and Did a hard reset of the router and reconfigured it from scratch. So far everything is working fine now. Next step will reinstall entware then...

    YazFi YazFi DNS non responsive

no i'm not running any dnsfilter, and I have yet to configure my pi-hole. it isn't hooked up to the network at all. You're probably right. I'll start by uninstalling yazfi, then before I nuke the router settings (hard reset, wipe jffs partition etc), I think i'll try swapping back to the old...

    YazFi YazFi DNS non responsive

Your issues are most likely not tied to YazFi if main LAN/WiFi clients are also affected. As a troubleshooting step you can disable the YazFi Guest network and see if the DNS issues persist. Yea thats what I thought too, which is why I first asked in the thread for the current version of john's...

    YazFi YazFi DNS non responsive

Thanks for the reply. DNS issues affecting main LAN& Wifi. I'm not sure guest wifi networks are affected anymore once i put both my guest networks on YazFi. Previously when just one was on YazFi and the other was not, it was definitely affected. This slow DNS resolution feels like an...

    YazFi YazFi DNS non responsive

ok coming back to this as i figured it is better than just starting a new thread. It's been a week since I last posted and the past few days I've been having very poor DNS query times. it feels intermittent, but it happens often enough that it is almost all the time. Basically all DNS queries...

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

hmmm actually now im not sure whether it is the router at all... im finding the dns resolve speed to be particularly bad when im running windows 10, but i dual boot with windows 7, and on 7 it is absolutely fine. For the life of me I can't figure out whats going on. need to do some more testing...

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

it's been a long time, as in many years. i just dont like dnsmasq implementations in routers. every couple of years i'll do a firmware update that needs a full reset and I always turn off router dns cache immediately. tried it a few years back with dd-wrt. hated it. later i switched to tomato...

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

i've never liked router dns caching i've always found it to be slow and troublesome. Still doesnt explain the problem im having. Theres nothing in the logs either, but why am I having trouble resolving domains?

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

I'm facing DNS delays since updating to 51E3 OR since installing YazFi. Im not sure which since I only just pinned down the problem, but ive been facing intermittent slowness in browsing on all my devices on wireless since moving over. That's because by default all my wired devices have the DNS...

    YazFi YazFi DNS non responsive

nop no errors. I also used option e to generate diagnostic logs but i didnt see anything wrong in YazFi.conf or Yazfi.dnsmasq Anywya I turned off Advertise router's IP in addition to user-specified DNS and this seems to have done the trick, or at least i can run apt update/upgrade on my...

    YazFi YazFi DNS non responsive

hmm I'll give this a try but i'm not so sure I want to do this. In the first place my devices are fine when not on a YazFi managed network. Secondly I'm planning to setup a Pi-Hole dns to blacklist suspicious urls, so I think I will need DNSmasq turned on. Anyway I'll give your suggestion a try

    YazFi YazFi DNS non responsive

Just installed YazFi 4.3.4 on my AC66U running john's fork 51E3 (the latest). I notice that on guest networks managed by YazFi im having severe DNS timeout problems. Devices connected to a guest network managed by YazFi keep having to try over and over again in the hope of resolving, whereas if...

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

i don't know about other routers but until very recently I've been using your last supported firmware for the AC66U which is 380.70 and it had the client list interface im referring to, so i dont think it needs the closed source trend micro stuff?

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

pity. I definitely prefer the more comprehensive client list i had in merlin 380 vs the the minimalist style client list in this firmware. Anyway ability to assign host names at the very least is useful. Used to be able to do that from the client list screen. Do you have any plans to add that...

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

anyway for me to assign client names and icons like the original merlin client list interface? Having just MAC addresses and all the same icons in the client list is not very useful

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

@john9527 question, is there a way to go back to the standard asus/merlin client list interface? the full sized one that lists more info? I'd like to be able to change the client names and set custom icons again. he client list in your firmware tends to list most of my devices simply by the MAC...

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

yea okay so I was wrong. using netspot instead it shows the channel width at 80MHz, and transfering a 1GB file using windows got me speeds in the 80-240Mbps range which is in line with what I was getting before. oh and windows shows 727Mbps link speed now which is correct Sorry for the...

    Release [Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374 LTS release 51E3

indeed thats what had me confused too, yet I've yet to see inssider be wrong before. Let me find a different wifi scanner and see what I get. At the same time the real world speeds I posted doesnt reflect the sort of speeds I ought to be getting at 40 or 80 MHz given the conditions I listed...
