Uhm RT-AX86U here with HA and AsusRouter Integration (the official one) as well. After the update I can't login to the router or even if I somehow manage to login, it will kick me out and make the webinterface unavailable after a few clicks.

In the Firmware Upgrade page is a toggle for "Security Upgrade". It says: Can this be enabled with merlin WRT or could this cause the firmware to try and update with the original ASUS firmware?

Yes this is exactly what I was thinking and how my webserver is battling spam and attacks... a simple tool to block/ban IPs based on some rules (e.g. getting spammed on a port). This would be a really really neat feature in Asus WRT Merlin @RMerlin :)
