But then it’s use my router’s DNS, which is my ISP right? And not the raspberry pi I’ve set in user defined?

Why is my DNS director not working?

Here it is (i said one raspberry pi for simplicity but it’s actually two). They have static IP addresses (15 and 16). As far as I can see the app is sending a regular DNS request to the IP i tell it to: This is the response: iCloud Private relay is off.

Why is my DNS director not working?

Hi, So I’ve setup my DNS director to send everything to my raspberry pi running pihole. It’s also running unbound. The raspberry pi is listed under clients with no redirection just to be sure. But when I use an ios app called DNS inspector, and I search for a domain (that would normally get...

Does DNS director block port 53 and/or 853 outgoing?

Hi, So I have two raspberry PI's running pihole and unbound. I have set all my devices to those IPs as DNS, and set up DNS director. Basically it blocks everything and sends it to the raspberry pis. But I'm wondering: some clients may use hard coded DoT using port 853. Does DNS director block...

    Mesh but wired?

Hi, I have a RT-AX86U running Merlin. Soon I’ll have access to a second one. I have a switch which I can use to hook up the second router, and I know I can run it in AP mode. But can I create a proper Mesh network this way? So one ssid which devices will use and switch between the router one...

BE88U vs BE86U: is the 88U worth the little but extra money?

Hi, As I see it, the 88U has more 2.4 GHz throughput and 2 GB RAM instead of 1. I’m just not sure if I will notice that.. The wifi capacity seems plenty high on both models.. and what will more RAM even do on a router? (Planning to use Merlin). Is it worth it paying 40 euros more for the 88...

    Another AX86U running fine here.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.6 is now available

All working well on AX86U. The SSL stuff is only for if you use DDNS right? I’m still new to this.

So what would be best practice for my specific situation: VPN into home network and DDNS

Thanks for the replies, I’ll look for guides on wireguard on the router.

So OpenVPN or Wireguard: which one should I go with and why?

So what would be best practice for my specific situation: VPN into home network and DDNS

Thanks for the replies! No it has a R1600 from AMD. So does this change the equation towards to router in your opinion or no?

So what would be best practice for my specific situation: VPN into home network and DDNS

Hi, So I’m just looking for what the best option is here. I’ve managed to setup a raspberry pi with pihole (proud of that). I bought a Synology Nas for backup and Plex (got that working as well). I use a Asus RT-AX86U router with the latest version of merlin. So I’m looking for the best wat...
