My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

bandwidth speed, connectivity issues, filtering, blocking malware/virus/etc, router scheduling (for now), Ethernet ports (like 4), Nat(?), Vlan tagging Don’t think I care about QoS, back up (like Apple Time Machine), media server, is an IPv4/6 good? It’s nice to have a guest network, an app...

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

Hmmm the 50$ one is better…? It seems to have new life after the reset. I’ll keep you posted if it has more issues. Yeah I’m wanting to get like a 300-400 maybe next year… but might talk myself out of it as I may not need that high of speeds etc. If that’s the case I may just buy a 50$ one...

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

Just plugged in ethernet and changed ax to AP and it's closer to a gig speed now.... :D I still need to schedule the on and off of SSID1 the AP is indeed different, out of curiosity, should I turn down the output of AC5300? so it doesn't interfer with AX1100? (also it would keep the temperature...

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

Ok I’m going to hold off on changing the firmware till tonight or tomorrow. Because people need it etc. I’m going to plug the Ethernet cords in, and switch the ax1100 to AP mode though

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

Oh, wow that is old I have 386.12 Oh no I just read it again and it says reset which means I have to redo it haha sooo much fun. 386.48377 is on the Merlin website right? Just look for that version….?

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

Oh, so put it in AP mode and broadcast as a different SSID? And that’ll solve the issue ?

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

Ok that may have been the problem! Was running through a different one… 🤷‍♂️ what I’m using right now.. probably default. Uhhhhh so I changed them to the M&M ones I can change the ones I don’t know about to auto or default. It does get a bit dusty lol Do this if it crashes again…? Do I need...

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

How to solve the SSID issue (having the primary SSID stop ant night) and turning them off…? (Would perhaps turning off smart connect, and running one of the dual 5G bands under a different name work…?)

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

Oh ok, I just upgraded the firmware I believe it was happening before however. One second I’ll respond to other post

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

No, but I assume so… I’ve just assumed someone pulled a plug or something. I do get a “network unstable” sometimes and assumed it was because of not enough bandwidth or something…. 🤷‍♂️ sometimes…. Other times I reboot the router; but maybe the reboot just gives enough time to fix the issue…...

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

Essentially except you flipped the locations it’s upstairs the main router (ac5300) connected to the ONT and downstairs is the ax100 besides that yes everything is right! (The Ethernet complaint, my phone WiFi complaint; the times radios are on)

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

Currently only the ac5300 radios (all bands) turns off, ax1100 stays on, they think it’s a neighbors network, because they don’t have the password I may have turned on MAC filtering though in case they did, but they’re not technically equipped to figure it out. still with me?

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

So in the following diagram SSID1 needs to be turned off. It’s not the router, that needs turning off it’s the radio/SSID that needs to be turned off which means that Ethernet can work because Ethernet is “safe” eye roll. So to diagram: ISP -> RT-AC5300 -> ax1000 ( AP) |...

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

A Oh my apologies shall I update the diagram? The router needs to be off, is SSID1 oh that’s why I can’t have a AP because it will be broadcasting the SSID1 which has to go off…. 🤦‍♂️

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

So I’ll wait until it happens again and then mention things. Shall I put the ax1500 in AP mode and toggle on a guest network ? For better WiFi coverage…?

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

Indeed. It goes back to May 4th but then jumps after system clock is set… soooo no luck there Intermittent issue. No observations it just sporadically happens.

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

@Tech9 updated the diagram it's a tad wonky but it hopefully illustrates it

My RT-AC5400 is requiring more frequent reboots should I do the M&M or nuclear reset?

both, hence my suspicion that it is an ISP problem... how do I read the logs to see if it is in fact a ISP problem?

[/CODE] Ok how’s that? I thought you captured it perfectly. Edit: oops missed the *
