    Need help configuring NextDNS

I recall 2 options from my earlier setup There's a way in the router to send the "dns.msftnsci.com" DNS queries to a specific DNS and not use NextDNS... (I think).. but do not recall where that setting is OTOMH. If home user, pay their $19.90 / YR fee for the PRO version. Please post your...

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

There are certain USB to SATA enclosures which are preferred. I've posted a # of times about using the UGREEN model with a specific chipset b/c some chipsets have proven to be problematic over the years. IDK if that's what's causing your issues. I've only used the UGREEN models over 5+ years...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.7 is now available

^^^ Per the conversations above, posting my observation: I've had a rock solid device which hasn't dropped for years start dropping after this latest update. I'm having to reboot this one device every 3-4 days to now return to it to service. I made no settings changes on the routers. Followed...

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

@thelonelycoder and team: in another thread you talked about when installing Diversion to now choose the "Temp Mirror" for entware. Will this cover those with Diversion already installed? Is there a special menu item for that switch? I could not find the path for that yesterday which is...

USB recommendations for Diversion / Skynet?

Good move. Your time is worth more than you think on hassling with this issue. As we've discussed in several earlier threads, Flash memory is literally "bottom of the barrel" silicon with a limited number of write-cycles. Heat is an enemy of electronic longevity too. A good USB enclosure...

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

Any ideas on why after updating to amtm 3.6, the amtm hangs doing "u" as it progresses down the listing? It hangs after j5 on the "ep manage Entware packages" item. There's definitely something amiss with the "ep manage" item b/c when I do ep , then 1 to check for updates, it hangs there...

Scribe error='libssl.so.1.1: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32'

This issue injured a lot of tooling - especially the J tooling. :( I just ran into it last night when I went to do my monthly update check on amtm and the other tooling. Ended up with a lot of: curl: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.1.1: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32 MD5 hash...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

WOW! Nice PD! TY for posting! I concur. Many steps, you listed above create both stable main and IOT network! I separated my IOT devices about 2 years ago b/c many IOT devices only use the older 2.4GHz bands. I waterfalled the rock-solid RT-AC68U into IOT ONLY WAPs and upgraded to RT-AX86U...

    NextDNS: Thumbs up, Thumbs down?

I never, ever used the NextDNS client, just setup manually. I've had fits and starts with it over the past two years but (knocking on real wood) my manual setup has been behaving lately.

    ASUS RT-AC86U Issue/Dead (Eth4 LED Only)

FWIW, I replaced all my RT-AC86U about 18 months back for this same reason - random, instant death - usually from the MT3125 voltage control chip. I had 1 of 4 x RT-AC86U I had pulled from service, cleaned up, reset to factory defaults and was preparing to sale. When I powered it on to take...

Entware Usb storage for asusmirlin ?

As a reminder, USB NAND is some of the cheapest made by the industry. There are good, better and best brands but in the end, it's really not designed for extended I/O. This has been discussed many times in several prior threads. A more reliable, longer term alternative, which will perform...

    Optimal settings

Typically, _all_ "power saving" features introduce "lag" and worse yet "latencies" into the performance equations. This means varying results over time. It always "takes time" (and uS add up) to start, sleep and stop these devices - whether they be wireless ports, _wired ports_, I/O devices...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

^^^^ Hmmm. I just started having major DNS issues with all - cloudflare, quad9, google - the wife is about to well... (Note: I've tried switching to cloudflare, quad9, and then then google - with the same results.) I've also rebooted the router a couple times this AM attempting to stabilize...

After upgrade to 386.7 warning about low level of free NVRAM

This has been surfaced before and is in my "router-keeping" arsenal. To clear out the dust... maybe this is what you were considering? YMMV per above posts.. IDK if it is a "best practice" or no longer recommended - but it might help in dire need...
