2.4ghz and 5ghz clients cant communicate with each other

I have an AC68U that I use as a mesh client. I bound all the 2.4ghz devices to it and it solved my problem. Not perfect but it works for me.

RT-AX86U Pro received data that was not requested by device

I remembered that my son worked for the ISP for many years. He said he's seen this before and suspects it may have been caused by a system update that went awry and not a DoS. Especially because the node went down not long after the incident. Also, I actually did hear back from Asus and all they...

2.4ghz and 5ghz clients cant communicate with each other

I also seem to have the same issue...sort of. I use the AX86U as my main router with an AC68U as a mesh node. With the exception of one 2.4GHz device all other 2.4GHz devices are bound to the AC68U and can be seen by 5GHz devices. When bound to the AX86U I had the same problem. For some reason...

RT-AX86U Pro received data that was not requested by device

Thanks. I did look it up and you seem to be right. Although it could be useful to deal with an ongoing attack. Also, as an aside point: I have another router RT-N66U that is use on a separate IP from the same ISP. I use that for my two TV connections (I have the ISP modem/router in bridge mode)...

RT-AX86U Pro received data that was not requested by device

Okay, so assuming you're right...why didn't my ISP record the traffic? Or could they have somehow been the ones to cause it resulting in the system going down soon after?

RT-AX86U Pro received data that was not requested by device

Yes, I do have some of those options running. None are necessary but add to the convenience of the device. I have been monitoring the connection activity and all seems normal. I also use a third party monitor to detect for any unwanted or unknown connections. I should also add, that my ISP went...

RT-AX86U Pro received data that was not requested by device

No. It only happened the one time and I'll monitor it. I'm not overly concerned at this point where I want to manually reset the router.

RT-AX86U Pro received data that was not requested by device

Everything is up to date. 3.0.0.6.102_34336. Unless there is a newer one.

RT-AX86U Pro received data that was not requested by device

I'm not sure if I completely understand what happened but I'll try to explain: From my understanding, the Traffic Monitor will record all incoming data and show where the traffic went by wired, 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz. In this one instance it showed that the router received over 350GB of data over a two...

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Actually this worked out even better than I expected. My internet plan is 500Mb and all wilfi6 devices are getting close to that. I know that if any of those connect to the ac68u they'll be limited but that would only happen if I were in my garage where the ac68u is located for minor devices...

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Thanks everyone! The 80Mz was the secret sauce! I don't know why but the Surface Pro 8 wants that setting. Works great on WiFi6 now as per the attached speed test. Thanks again. I just needed to be pushed in the right direction.👌👍

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Thanks for the help. But I need to give this a rest for a while. We're making headway and I'll re-read the suggestions later and try them all. Thanks again.👍

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Well kind of. But it still only connects as wireless N but the speed is a lot better. However the other devices won't connect as Wifi6.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

I have an ac68U as a mesh node but it made no difference whether it was attached or not.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

I just turned mixed mode back on and the interface went back to normal. The surface Pro also reconnected which I didn't expect.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Note that the General Settings page changed for some reason.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Firmware is 3.0.0.6.102_34314-g8ae1379_400-g562af. See the previous replay. I can't get the normal interface back now without resetting. Reinstalling the firmware doesn't help.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Okay. Now that's interesting. This time it did connect using the N band with decent speed. However the Asus interface changed to dual 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz. And although the channel changed to 36, there is no longer the ability to change it. That's a different interface. I saw this before and had to...
