RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Actually this worked out even better than I expected. My internet plan is 500Mb and all wilfi6 devices are getting close to that. I know that if any of those connect to the ac68u they'll be limited but that would only happen if I were in my garage where the ac68u is located for minor devices...

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Thanks everyone! The 80Mz was the secret sauce! I don't know why but the Surface Pro 8 wants that setting. Works great on WiFi6 now as per the attached speed test. Thanks again. I just needed to be pushed in the right direction.👌👍

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Thanks for the help. But I need to give this a rest for a while. We're making headway and I'll re-read the suggestions later and try them all. Thanks again.👍

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Well kind of. But it still only connects as wireless N but the speed is a lot better. However the other devices won't connect as Wifi6.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

I have an ac68U as a mesh node but it made no difference whether it was attached or not.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

I just turned mixed mode back on and the interface went back to normal. The surface Pro also reconnected which I didn't expect.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Note that the General Settings page changed for some reason.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Firmware is 3.0.0.6.102_34314-g8ae1379_400-g562af. See the previous replay. I can't get the normal interface back now without resetting. Reinstalling the firmware doesn't help.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Okay. Now that's interesting. This time it did connect using the N band with decent speed. However the Asus interface changed to dual 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz. And although the channel changed to 36, there is no longer the ability to change it. That's a different interface. I saw this before and had to...

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Tried all your suggestions. No change. It sees the 5Ghz SSID but won't connect.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

Thanks, but it made no difference.

RT-AX86U Pro and Surface Pro 8

I just bought an RT-AX86U Pro and everything works well with the exception of my Surface Pro 8 on the WiFi6 band. I have installed the latest Intel WiFi drivers (fresh install) and the latest Asus firmware but yet I cannot connect the Surface to Wifi6 and not even ac mode when forced in the...

    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51685 (2024/04/15)

I'm running the same combination with a 5g backhaul and they meshed up perfectly. I actually need the AC68U or I wouldn't be able to use my 2.4gh devices. But that's part of another thread.

2.4ghz and 5ghz clients cant communicate with each other

I already went through that. No change. If those 2.4ghz devices are connected to the AX86U they don't connect to 5Ghz devices. If I bind them to the AC68U mesh node, they work perfectly. The problem is elsewhere.

2.4ghz and 5ghz clients cant communicate with each other

Hi. New to this forum. At least I found this thread before I tore apart my system. I too have tried everything. I even have an open ticket with Asus. One thing I did discover. The AX86U replaced an AC68U that I set up as a mesh node. If I put all my 2.4ghz devices on the AC68U node, everything...
