The 16-bay TS-1635 has twelve 2.5" / 3.5” drive bays for main storage and four 2.5” bays for SSD drives. Targeting business environments, this mid-range NAS includes two GbE LAN ports, as well as two 10 GbE SFP+ ports that, according to QNAP's release, pushes data at read/write speeds of 1228/874 MB per second.

Available in two models, the TS-1635’s internals include an Annapuma Labs Alpine AL-514 quad-core 1.7 GHZ ARM Cortex-A15 processor, 512 MB of flash memory, 4 or 8 GB of DDR3 RAM (upgradable to 16 GB), USB 3.0 (three ports), and one PCIe slot.

The feature list for the TS-635 NAS includes storage expansion using other QNAP NAS products via VJBOD, eight IP camera channels, container support through Container Station, hardware-accelerated encryption, and a variety of apps made available through QNAP’s embedded Linux OS, QTS 4.2.

Available now, the QNAP TS-1635 is in a 4 GB model (TS-1635-4G) and 8 GB model (TS-1635-8G). Pricing information was not provided.
