New Around Here
Hi..

im not getting much help from the synology forum so hoped this whould go better :)

Just got my first NAS and desided to get the 210J..

I have just installed 2 Samsung 1TB HD103SJ and all was fine

Then i ran a SPeedtest using ATTO benchmark and was supprised by the result..

Write speed is fine ~ avg about 48MB / Sec
Read speed is really low. ~ avg about 22MB / Sec

I have connected the the nas and pc directly using patchcabel.

PC is running SSD harddrive so that should not set any limit

Is there another good testing utility i chould try?
Any ideer what could be wrong?

Thx in advance

Also having problem with my 210j, have 2 x WD10EADS-00P8B0 running RAID 0 and with Gigabit LAN aswell.

Getting write speeds of 7-8mb/s and read speeds of 30-33mb/s

You're better off timing a large folder filecopy for a better measure of performance. What OS are you using?

Don't use jumbo frames if you are using them.

Because sometimes they don't help and just throw one more variable into the performance mix.

@chronaden

Greetings,

The error you are experiencing is the HDD you are using, the WD10EADS-00P8B0 has been known to cause the performance error you are experiencing, and it is reproducible using other computers or operating systems.

This specific drive is listed on the Synology HDD compatibility list as not suggested.

The specific revision of WD10EADS which our engineers did find compatible is the WD10EADS-00L5B1. If specifying the revision is not possible at your retailer - may I suggest you consider using Seagate ST31000528AS for your DS210j.
