380.66_4 AC66U Repeater using 5Ghz then I can't fix 2.4Ghz channel

I am trying to get my AC66u to repeat from AC68u.
I succeed and the 5ghz connect to my AC68u but the 2.4 ghz band then use autochannel regardless I did previously set it (when the AC66 was in router mode) to channel 6.

I it realy anoying since this autochannel thing is always moving and do bad moves : channel 2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10,12... but never use 1, 6 or 11 where it should.

Is there a way SSHing it some commands to fix the 2.4ghz to channel 1, 6 or 11 ?

Channel selection code is proprietary Broadcom code, and outside of our control.

I guess than all ASUS "range extender" have channel selection aviable isn't it?
My $50 Netgear repeater can do that...

Anyway... Are newest routers also locked in repeater mode? I was maybe ready to buy a new router, so if a new model has this "feature" unlocked, I could maybe buy it.
