Not sure if this is specific to 384.6 or not, but that is the version I have installed on my RT-AC3100.

I was trying to test Dual WAN with my USB Hotspot modem. Anyway, I enabled dual WAN. I was checking AIProtection to see if there had been any hacking attempts and the Network Protection page showed that there was 1 Risk for the Router Security Assessment. It showed that the UPNP service was not disabled. When I turned off Dual WAN, it now showed that the UPNP was disabled.

Not sure if this is normal or not, but it seems odd and I wouldn't think that UPNP is required when Dual WAN is on.

Is there a bug somewhere here or is this normal?

UPNP is enabled/disabled separately for each WAN interface. Enabling Dual WAN means the default value of "enabled" is applied to the second interface, regardless of the state on the first interface. You will have to also disable it on that interface.

Makes sense. However, I'm not able to find the UPNP setting for the second interface. It doesn't appear on the Dual Wan page nor does it appear on the Internet Connection page when the USB WAN Type is selected.

Where would I disable UPNP for the USB modem?

It's possible Asus might not be exposing it for USB modems and only for Ethernet-based WANs. Disable it over SSH:

Code:
nvram set wan1_upnp_enable=0
nvram commit
service restart_upnp
