4 bay nas for a home media server

New Around Here
I have a WD Live TV box which currently is working with a USB drive but I would like something with more capacity and reliability. I have found the following 4 products to consider. Prices are from amazon.co.uk

£220 Netgear Ready Nas NV+
£293 QNAP TS-410 Turbo
£360 Thecus N4100 Pro
£377 Synology DS410 Disk Station

The main requirement is that it is quiet as it will be in the living room as I want a wired connection between it and the nas box rather than going over the 802.11n wireless bridge.

Access will be via windows shares only and it would be nice to be able to setup a couple of users with one being read only but that is not essential.

The 3rd important thing is power consumption. If I leave a power hungry NAS switched on all the time and it takes 80w then that will cost about £80 a year in electricity. I can certainly turn it on and off as I wish but a device with a low power consumption (with 4 drives fitted) when idle would be very good incase I wanted to access it remotely.

In many ways a NAS is a bit of overkill as the WD box will share the USB drive connected to it anyway. Maybe just a 2TB USB HDD connected to the WD box and then a second one to be used as a monthly backup using rsync or similar. That would be £150 for 2TB of storage including a backup drive. Could be extended with another pair if I need the extra space.
Seems a lot cheaper option and only really a problem if I want to go over 4TB.

Any suggestions or other ideas?
