5ghz band not working -- Asus RT-AC68U

esoteric

New Around Here
Hi. I changed firmware from DD-WRT to Merlin version 378.55. My 5ghz band does not show up on my wifi list. On the router homepage it only shows Channel 'Auto' and Channel 0. On the router itself the 5ghz light is on, but the 2.4ghz light is not. I tried some basic troubleshooting with no luck. The 2.4ghz shows up on the the wifi list and works flawlessly. When running stock firmware and DD-WRT firmware I never had any problem using 2.4 or 5ghz. I should also mention I tried updating the firmware to the latest merlin release, but it does not allow the upload to complete.

Any idea why I cannot get the 5ghz network to show?

EDIT: Well, I just did a factory restore of the settings and both bands seem to be working great now!

It may not be relevant to you, but I was using the RT-AC68U as an access point to extend my home network using an Ethernet cable to a new area. Before I the configured the router as an access point in the settings, the 2.4 GHz band was slow and the 5 GHz band was slow and sometimes not visible (maybe because the router was fighting with the other routers to get to the internet???). In any case, when configured as an access point (which is what I need) all works perfectly and I am getting all the speed I expect.
