Hi all, been lurking awhile as a guest, keeping an eye on Merlin's builds and took the plunge.

Very happy, except for one small issue, unless I missed something.

5Ghz will not use 40Mhz channel width.

As you can see from attached images, I can't change the extension channel, after switching primary from auto.

2.4Ghz is also manually selected.

Any ideas ?

Your images show 5 GHz using 40 MHz width channels. You just can not manually select the side channel which is normal.

Edit: Okay I see from your inssider shot that the AC66U is still at 20 MHz width. Have you hit apply and restarted the AC66U?

You have two devices with the same channel, which probably causes your router to downgrade to 20 MHz.

Set your router to a higher channel number, this should help.

Router will auto select extension channel on your behalf.

The other devices are range extenders to allow kids to connect TV's, playstations, desktops etc and they must share the same channels to operate correctly I believe.

Daft thing is, I upgraded from Netgear 3700 v1 and the 5Ghz always used to show 40Mhz on the router and extender.

I have hit apply, restarted, hard rebooted, prayed and drank alcohol, but cannot get the Asus it to switch to 40Mhz, which is a shame since no other 5ghz in the area :D

I could always take the plunge and switch to 374.41
