Hi,

I tried both official and Merlin firmware 354, the 5Ghz still drops and I have to restart the router daily to get it back to 1.3Gbps (I have RT-AC66U and PCE-AC66 adapter)

The new wireless driver works wonderfully in the .354 release for the 5GHz band. Remember 1.3Gbps is the theoretical maximum, actual throughput will be far less depending on your environment.

How much is the drop in signal strength then according to inSSider ?
Have you tried just to hit the Apply button in the Professional settings page of the 5 GHz band instead of restarting the router ?

I was having the same problem with rev .270 firmware.

It seemed to go away when I cleared the NVRAM and manually re-entered my various settings.

I turned it off, held the WPS button, and turned it back on until the power light spasmed.

It never dropped then.

I always get around 1-1.3Gbps for 1 day and the next day it drops to 200-433Mbps so I have to go into the 5G professional and click apply and it gets back to 1-1.3Gbps

Is there a way to have the 5G Professional tab auto click apply itself so I don't have to manually click it everyday?.....kinda get tired

I wonder if you see any drop of signal strength in inSSIder when you have this problem ?
You should post this problem to Jeremy at Asus who is on this forum so he gets informed about your problem. Sadly , I do not know if there is a way to automate the Apply button .....

Right, the link rate dropping down might just be the router adjusting to the network environment and is not necessatily a cause for concerns.

To really test the performance before and after the link rate drops, check the actual throughput before and after (using LAN Speed Test or similar tool).
Also check the signal strength before and after the link rate drop / using inSSIDer or the wireless adapter's utility.
The actual throughtput or signal strength dropping (not talking about standard back and forth fluctuations that can happen constantly) over time would be a cause or concern.
