68U - PC does not connect after waking up & 1 more issue

pr2014

New Around Here
Hi, home network - I have my PC hard wired to the router. When I "wake" it up, it does not connect to the router.I have tp reboot the router to get it to reconnect. Rebooting the PC does not work. I have given the PC a statis IP. This is beyond frustrating, especially to the others on the network ;-).

Also, my PC has a gigabit card but the link rate shows 100 Mbps.

Any ideas?? Love the router and its features, but this is really annoying. Have tried searcing for answers but have not found any - yet. Thanks

Something is wrong with your PC's NIC or the Ethernet cable it's using if you are only getting a 100 Mbits link. I'd start by replacing that cable with a new one, preferably rated Cat6 or higher. Also look for any driver update for your network interface, preferably from the NIC's manufacturer rather than the motherboard manufacturer (those tend to never be up-to-date).

Also make sure your NIC Is configured for auto-negotiate rather than fixed to a set speed and duplex mode.

Hello,

Whats the brand and model of the NIC and the OS? Is this a new issue? If its a new issue what was changed?

I would follow the first two replies first. Change the Ethernet cable. Make sure both ends are either set to similar speeds or Auto (preferably). I have seen many times if both ends are not set to the same speed if fixed there are negotiation issues. And of course to turn off power saving mode on the NIC.
Change the port the cable is plugged into.

In my laptop im using the Intel AC-7260 and with the newer driver versions the NIC has issues after resuming from sleep. My fix was to roll back to a previous version. Granted this is a WiFi card and not hard wired. But you might give this a shot as well.

a) Windows 4 64 bit Professional. Updated drivers and all.
b) The not connecting on waking up seems to have gone away after I connected the cable to a Netgear Gigabit switch instead of directly to the RT. Why would this happen?
c) But now I am getting a link rate of 10 Mbps.:mad::confused:
d) NIC is set for auto-negotiate and power savings mode is turned off. NIC is Broadcom NetLink Gigabit (from Device Manager).
