Hi everyone,
I updated to the latest firmware.

And my shared drive is no longer seen on the network. I have tried unplugging it from the router and plugging it back in. I have also tried to disable share, then enable it again. Nothing works.

And in Control Panel > Devices and Printers the WDNW is showing but it's a little faded as if it's inactive/disabled.

under device properties: UPnP tab > Last connected: Unavailable

Running windows 8.1 64-bit.
Firmware version for ASUS AC3100: RT-AC3100_3.0.0.4_380_1354-g82da4ac

Strange.

Network Place (Samba) Share
Enable Share: On
Allow guest login: Off
Device Name: WDNW
Workgroup: The same on all PCs that need access to this drive

admin R/W Yes for all folders and password protected access
User R yes for all folders and password protected access

help please. Thank you!

How did you update to the latest firmware? (The check for updates feature in the router UI frequently doesn't work.) Just for reference, please post your firmware revision in this thread, as it can make this thread more useful to others as "latest" can change suddenly.

It's the new firmware. Reverted back to FW 858 and everything is working fine now.

Also spoke with ASUS Tech and they've been receiving complaints about this issue as well. Funny stating that this FW was specifically released to deal with Samba issues but has pretty much crippled it. Oh well....

Well going back to 858 also brought with it the disconnect problem. My connection across all devices drops and reconnects every couple of seconds. Sigh. Going to upgrade again and hope the update for the SAMBA fix comes soon.
