I finally got myself a fast Internet provider and have speeds of 120/20.

I'm running a very recent build of Merlin on my AC68, and regardless of my distance to the router and regardless of the device, I can't achieve a wireless speed of faster than 80-100Mbits.

I have the VPN connection disabled, so I know it's not that eating up CPU.

Is there a tweaking guide I can follow? Or is this just known issue?

Ethernet connection results in full speed.

Thanks

What device? What wireless band? What's their link rate?

80-100 Mbps is the max you can expect out of devices that are single-stream and connect at 150 Mbps.

Anything from my IPAD Air or my Windows 10 pc, I'm getting the same max of about 80ish Mbps.

This is either on 2.4 or 5ghz.

Are those single store devices? I not sure how to tell.

The adapter on the windows pc uses Adavnced-N 6235, and the IPad Air is 802.11a/b/g/n dual channel mono.

I've never had to play around with the channel settings, so everything is using Merlin default.

80-100 Mbps is probably what you can expect from mobile devices such as an iPad.

For the desktop with an Intel N6235, max speed would be around 80-100 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band, and around 150-200 Mbps on the 5 GHz band, provided there's no other device slowing it down.

If you are using the default settings on the router then you are already configured with the optimal configuration, aside maybe from the channel if you left it on auto - automatic channel configuration isn't always optimal.

For sure I left it on auto, is there an app that can help me determine the best channel to use?

For sure when I did the 5ghz testing, I was the only one on my network using traffic.

Thanks
